That only made his grey eyes twinkle like the sun on frost. Xane swept his tongue across the front of his teeth, revealing the fabled tongue stud. “That sounds like the best reason ever to play it live.”

“And risk getting…” What did she want to say here? She’d rather committed herself now. “…squirted on?”

Xane sucked in his cheeks, as his lips formed a pout. “Honey, you’ve a lot to learn about me.” He gave her shoulder another pat, and this time she didn’t try to dislodge his hand.

“I think you’re exceedingly dirty.”

“Absolutely filthy,” he agreed.

“Okay, hot stuff, and on that note, I’m done. Place is yours.” She gave her clothing one more tug so that it was all straight, then headed for the exit. However, at the door she paused, hand on the handle. “Xane.”

He flicked his gaze upwards so that he faced her in the mirror.

“I mean it. Thank you.”

He raised his hand in a salute. “Thank me by being the goddamned woman he needs.”

Allegra

Alle exited the washroom straight into Spook’s arms, and the absolute heaven of his embrace. He kissed her long and slow, oblivious to their surroundings, as if reality didn’t exist outside of them. It earned them some wolf whistles, courtesy of Ginny, and a camera flash –Ronnie.

“You okay?” Spook asked, when they eventually parted for breath. “I was coming to check. You shot off so fast.”

She rubbed her nose against his. “I am, yeah. How about you?”

He was always wary when asked how he was, as if he was mentally going,Not this again. What do you fucking think? This time he responded with another blistering kiss. “More than. I’m floaty.”

“Yeah?” He sounded genuine. Alle looped her arms around his neck, and let his smile send the flutter of butterflies through her chest. There was an appealing lack of rigidity in him. Clearly, they needed to push the boundaries more often if it drew the tension out of him to this extent.

“What if, instead of getting straight back to work, we played hooky?” he suggested.

She had to admit, she wasn’t in a hurry to go straight back to the studio. “Who are you and what have you done with my boyfriend?”

He sunk his teeth into his lip.

“I’m joking, Spook.” She batted at him. “I’m frickin’ desperate to skip out of here with you. What did you want to do? Where should we go?”

“Lunch?” he suggested, still a touch hesitant.

“You’re hungry?”

“Reckon so.”

“Anal sex gives you an appetite, eh?”

Another smile caught him in a grip and shone in his eyes. “It does seem that way.”

“Why don’t you say that a little bit louder?” Ash hollered.

Alle flashed him two fingers, to which he and the rest of the room’s occupants responded with cackles.

“Ignore the children.” Spook slid his hand down her arm and clasped her hand. Stupid how the lacing of their fingers could convey so much and feel so damn good.

“Take me where thou wilt,” Alle said. “Preferably out of here, and away from the cage of monkeys.”

Alle figured he’d lead her straight to Blackwater’s, where maybe he’d eat something little more than a glorified salad or a chicken breast, but the moment they stepped outside into the wind, Spook sped into a jog and tugged her across path and pebbles, to the strip of sand beyond. He drew them right to the water’s edge, then had them play dare with the foaming waves. She’d never seen him this giddy before.
