“She doesn’t know you. She only knows the thug you portray. You can be yourself around her. You can relax.”

“I made a wisecrack about your purse but made it sound like I was talking about your dick. How much more relaxed do you want me to get?”

Mac just blinked.

“What? It’s funny.”

“I’m sure she found it hilarious,” Mac looked over Jake’s shoulder. “Your brothers are coming.”

Jake suddenly snatched the money out of Mac’s hand and counted it. “That’s it? I saw how much money you had in your purse.”

The twins snickered, taking a stance on either side of Jake.

“It’s not a purse,” Mac said. “It’s a sporran.”

“Well, open that thing up and shell out some more cash,” Jake said.

And the asshole Jake was back.“Here,” Mac stuffed another twenty in Jake’s hand.

“Hey, Mac,” Henry said. “Maybe I could come by your pop’s pub and you can teach me some more of those fancy pool shots.”

It was a friendly offer that Mac never expected. “Yeah. Sure. Anytime.”

“Me too,” Danny said, feeling left out. “I want to learn too.”

“Fine.” Jake rolled his eyes. “Mac can teach all three of us to hustle pool. Now can you two finish with the collections so we can get the hell out of here?” Jake watched the twins move on to the sandwich cart before he turned to Mac and displayed a crooked smile. “If you’re taking requests, I like the one about Street of Dreams.” He winked and dropped the cash that Mac just paid him into the guitar case and walked away.
