If Skyler wasn’t sitting down, she probably would have fallen to the floor. She visibly jumped and stared at him with her jaw hanging open and her eyes wide. Then she let out a breath, dropped her shoulders and rolled her eyes. “Very funny.”
“I’m not kidding.”
She squinted at him skeptically. “Really? You’re telling me that Jake King is gay?”
Mac let out an erotic chuckle as the memories flash through his head. “He sure was that night.”
Realization that he was telling the truth made Skylar’s eyes widen again. “What? How did this happen.Whendid this happen?”
“That night at the club. When you met Mateo. That’s why Jake hasn’t been around. He’s been avoiding me. I guess he needed time to deal with it.”
“Wait. You mean this happened at the club?”
“Uh-huh.”
“While I was there?”
Mac chuckled. “Yes.”
“You mean, you had sex with Jake in the bathroom, and then acted as if nothing happened?”
“Not in the bathroom. Outside. Next to a dumpster.”
Her eyes and mouth opened even wider, still unable to comprehend what had happened, and she stared out the windshield.
“Believe me, Sky. I was as shocked as you are.”
Her head snapped in his direction. “How the hell did it happen?”
As he relayed the story to her, leaving out the intimate details, she remained slack jawed.
“All this time, I thought he just wanted to kick your ass. I had no idea he liked you.”
Mac laughed. “He did a lot of things to my ass, kicking it wasn’t one of them.”
Skylar smiled, a little embarrassed, then motioned toward the diner with her thumb. “What was all that about? Were you two really fighting?”
Mac shook his head. “All a show. You have no idea what was really going on.” He wasn’t about the tell her that what looked like wrestling was really them rubbing against one another, but by the way her cheeks flushed, he was sure she figured it out.
“Are you going to see him again, or was it a one-time thing?”
Mac shrugged his shoulders. “Beats the hell out of me. But after what just happened out there, I think the answer is yes, we’ll definitely be seeing each other again.”Hopefully, naked.
