“Hey,” he replies.

Daisy and Rex have their heads pressed together, both looking at me like I might disappear any second.

“It’s OK guys. I’m OK.”

I sound terrible, and I feel fucking terrible, but I’ll live. Not sure why I feel like this though.

More cool water is dribbled into my mouth, it eases my throat a little.

“What happened?”

“We think you were poisoned by the fruit you ate,” says Rex. I’ve closed my eyes again, because having them open is making my head swim.

Fruit. Poison.

“Brooke saved your life,” Rex is saying.

Brooke? Who’s Brooke?

My mind is fuzzy. Daisy. She has a twin sister called Brooke. Is Brooke here? I’m so confused, and so tired.

Then I remember Daisy making me throw up, eat charcoal.

How come Rex is here?

“What about Gray? And where’s Key?”

“We are all here; Killian and Harvey as well. Gray is looking after Key.”

I listen to the voices as someone gently lays me back down on the sand.

“Do we just let him sleep?”

“I think we do. He’s had water. Next time he wakes, we’ll give him coconut milk.”

“Good idea.”

???

I’m not 100% sure if I slept or just passed out, but when I wake up, I feel a lot better. I’m able to think again. I open my eyes and roll onto my side. A few feet away, there is a fire burning, and someone is tending to it. Is it Gray?

No. It’s that TV host guy. Can’t remember his name.

I see Daisy. She’s hanging something over a branch. I can’t see Rex or Keyara anywhere. I continue to lay on my side and just observe the beach. Maybe they are getting food?

Food! Shit, I’m fucking starving.

What I wouldn’t give for my perfect hangover meal; a burger and bottomless fries. It’s like the thought of food has awakened all the sensations in my body, the primary of which is the need to piss.

I cautiously raise myself up to one elbow. It makes me dizzy, so I wait for the world to stop spinning before I struggle to a sitting up position. I feel shivery and still desperately in need of a pee, so I roll onto all fours. That’s when I catch the attention of Daisy.

“Leander!” She runs towards me and I try to give a grin.

“Need to piss.”

“Harvey,” she calls. “Help me!”

Another set of arms helps me to my feet, and for a minute I think I’m delirious again because a rumpled-looking Ryan Seacrest is on the beach. I sway between the two of them, but remain upright.
