HARMONY
The guys are so kind and encouraging, I’ve felt actually competent working with them on lyrics. But that might change today.
Today we step out of our lovely foursome bubble—because Harry is coming to the ranch.
I hope Harry is going to be cool with me being around. The boys assured me that he would love me, but I'm the new kid on the block.
I said that to Lennox, and he told me to ‘hang tough’.
Very funny.
I’m nervous. Firstly, because he’ll be listening to the new work. Will he think my lyrics are a joke and I’m poking my nose in where it is not wanted?
And secondly, did the old me ever meet him?
I did a little background research and he has worked with people who were my dad’s friends, so I’m anxious. I should be in the clear though, I look so different now, and have a different name.
But Harry’s visit has brought to the front of my mind that I am in the wrong. I’m wrong because I haven’t told the guys about who my dad is.
Or who I was in my former life. I’m lying by omission and I hate it. At the end of the month is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Gala, and they all want me to go with them, but I’ve been non-committal about going. Because I haven’t told them the truth yet.
I have to.
Their life is in LA. My life is wherever they are. I am going to have to figure this out. With my men, maybe I am strong enough to step out into the world again.
But still, Harry represents LA and the music scene, and that makes me nervous.
I decide to wear Asa’s Mr Happy tee shirt as a dress. It’s like wearing a hug. Oversized tee, high top sneakers, and no make-up. The whole look makes me even further removed from my old LA life.
Waldo waves as I make my way along the path to the studio barn. I have all my notes from the last session in my tote bag, plus a load of ideas that hit me in the middle of the night.
I can hear voices and laughter in the studio.
The doors between the control booth and the recording side must be open. When closed, you can’t hear anything due to all the soundproofing.
Taking a deep breath, I step inside to meet their manager.
LENNOX
Isee Harmony coming into the studio and blow her a kiss. She looks so freaking adorable in Asa’s tee shirt. I love how our girl isn’t high maintenance.
It's a good thing really, because she gets ravished regularly and if she had to stop and re-do her make up every time, it could get old.
Harry, Hugo and some Salt-Bae wannabe listening to Asa talk about the Fender deal. The new guy came with Harry.
Apparently he is a manager to a few people on the label and wants to talk to us about touring.
I instantly don't like him.
And he has a stupid name—Screech, for fucks sake.
What a dickwad.
Slicked back hair, head to toe labels. He looks a ‘complete wanker’ as my British friends would say. I really hope Harry is not going to push us to work with him.
Harmony comes into the studio, those sweet hips swaying. This meeting better be done soon, I have fun plans ahead. I give my babe a wink.
But she’s not looking at me, she’s looking over my shoulder.
