No way!

I don’t want to believe it, but I know it’s true. These men are the three members of Mercury Rising, one of the hottest bands in the world.

Thiscannotbe happening.

The scariest one speaks.

“You’re trespassing. How did you get in here?”

My heart rate is still very high. I don't know if I’m exactly in danger, but this is not a good situation—to put it mildly.

“Sorry, I didn’t know this was private property. I’ll go now.”

I don’t want them to see where the cabin is, but where else can I go?

Nowhere, apparently. I take a step and crumple. My ankle is so badly turned I can’t even walk on it.

Hold back the tears, Harmony.

“Where’s your car?” Mr. Scary snaps. He’s the lead singer, I think. “We'll carry you to your car, and then you get out of here and do not even think about coming back,” he snarls.

They think I’m a fan.

Aunt Sheila’s cabin is tucked on the grounds of Gold Creek Ranch. The band must be staying there. The cabin and the ranch are the only two properties on this road.

I groan. “Just help me back to the cabin.”

The giant, nice one cocks his head. “Cabin?”

“My aunt’s cabin, it is just through that gate.”

“Did you know there was a cabin, Hugo?” the inked-up boy asks.

Hugo. That’s right. Not Hugh, Hugo. The lead singer is Hugo Piper.

The big guy is the bass player, I can’t remember his name though.

The manic-dream-pixie-boy is the drummer.

Although I avoid the music industry like the plague, it's impossible to not know about Mercury Rising.

“Fuck my life!” Hugo snaps. He is indeed angry, intensely angry. He looks at me, flipping a hand at my chest. “So you hang out at your aunt's cabin, then parade around naked? What’s the end game here?”

I can feel myself flushing. It’s not fair, I’ve done nothing wrong. Time to be Brave Harmony.

I square my shoulders. “Look, I realize that you are three famous people and you want your privacy. That’s great. I also want my privacy. I didn’t know you were at the ranch, you didn't know I was at the cabin. Let’s do our best to not see each other again,” I say.

The drummer groans. “Baby, don’t say that, we’re only just met!”

“Fuck off,” says Hugo. I think he is talking to the drummer, not me.

Kindly Thor says nothing, just comes over and swoops me up into his arms.

Striding across the meadow, the girl in my arms, I’m pissed with both Hugo and Lennox. Hugh is raining fury on what I suspect is an innocent chick. Lennox is doing Lennox.

Which is fine most of the time, but I look at this girl and see worry—not flirtation—in her eyes. She has suffered, and I don't want her to suffer any more, especially because of us.
