“I am.” He winked at me.
A sob caught in my throat. “Please forgive me, Lincoln. I should never have sent you away.”
“I understand why you did, Harper.” I didn’t deserve immediate forgiveness from him, but I’d never stop trying to earn it. “I love you.”
“I think I’m about to swoon,” I heard Megan whisper loudly.
“I love you too, Lincoln. I’ve missed you something fierce.” My voice cracked on the last word. Our faces drew closer, our noses touching.
“I’m never letting you go. From now on, we figure things out together,” he demanded.
“Together,” I whispered before his lips found mine. I was done running away.
Epilogue
Lincoln
Three months Later...
Harper sank into the couch and snuggled up next to me. We were spending the afternoon relaxing. After a thorough discussion with the director, now a friend of mine, we rushed most of my scenes so I could be given three weeks off for the impending birth of our little girl. I only needed to go back to shoot a few final scenes before I could be home full-time.
I wrapped my arm around her shoulders as we surfed the movie channels. “What do you want to watch, babe?” I asked.
“Whatever you want is fine. If there was a movie that encouraged a baby to vacate, I’d choose that one. She’s two days late,” she grunted. “I can barely move and she’s constantly sitting on my bladder.”
I kissed the top of her head. “You’re doing an incredible job. I’d never handle all this as well as you.”
“You’re just saying that because you know you’ll never have to get pregnant.” I forced myself not to laugh at her pout. She wasn’t trying to be cute and would not appreciate my laughter.
“Maybe. Either way, you’re far stronger than I am.”
I thought Harper’s changing body was gorgeous, but there were times she still struggled with it. Knowing how far she’d come in accepting herself and her new love for being a curvy girl, I made sure she knew every single day how obsessed I still was with her body. I cherished the beauty of her being able to carry our child.
My only concern was that she was healthy and safe. Her doctor had been monitoring her blood pressure, and it had stayed steady the rest of her pregnancy.
Harper shifted. “I can’t seem to get comfortable. My lower back is killing me. It started last night.”
