His fingers massaged my leg while he whispered sweet things to me. These are the types of things I would miss when he eventually left.

Between his tender touches and charming words, my panties were soaked. I blamed the pregnancy on my constant horniness around Lincoln. My leg finally relaxed, and I opened my eyes.

“Better?”

My eyes skimmed his body. The bulge in his shorts told me he was similarly affected.

“Mmm, so much better.” If he weren’t so excited to show me the final product, I’d have suggested we head to the bedroom. The pride in his voice when he told me it was done stopped me from suggesting it. He deserved to have this moment.

I sat up and gave him my hand to help me rise from the couch. “I bet I’ll love it.”

“Let’s see.” His lips curved in a nervous smile as he led me back to the office where we had filmed. His laptop was placed in the center of the desk with headphones attached.

He sat me down behind the desk and handed me the headphones. “You don’t want to hear?” I asked.

“No, I’m good.”

Once I was ready, and he pressed play, Lincoln leaned his hip against the side of the desk. I looked up to wink at him. He stared intently at me, not the screen. I took hold of one of his hands and squeezed it tight.

I was surprised to see how nervous he was and hoped like hell that I liked what he did.

CHAPTER NINETEEN

Lincoln

My stomach tightenedeven before I pressed play on the computer for Harper. Nerves raced up and down my body, electrifying me, causing my feet to tap to get out the excess energy. How I felt right now could just about rival the nerves from my first acting audition.

I wanted to impress Harper. I wanted her to like what I created for her, but more than that, I wanted her to think I was pretty great, and maybe she’d find another reason to keep me around.

It was utterly illogical to believe this video would positively or negatively affect our relationship. Yet here I was, leaning against my desk, trying to look far more relaxed and calm than I felt.

Harper winked at me before returning her gaze to the screen. Clearly, I wasn’t fooling her.

She watched the video in silence. Not a single readable expression crossed her face. For someone who wore a perpetual smile, Harper was strangely neutral.

I shifted, resisting the urge to pace.
