I needed to make sure my father didn’t hear of this. He didn’t approve of my fast and loose lifestyle. He was sick of seeing me in the tabloids with one woman after the next. Once he found out I’d brought a girl up to my office and made me feel like a reckless teenager for it. He reminded me if I was going to take over the company one day, this was not the type of behavior that would get me there.
“Did you see a mouse run by?”Shit! Is that what really just came out of my mouth? The IT guy was never going to believe it. I’d never had a problem getting myself out of tight spots. My friends always said I could charm the panties off a nun. Yet, after one look at her, I couldn’t think straight.
He looked around, now even more uneasy. Not that me standing there in a towel, dripping water all over the floor, didn’t make this awkward enough.
What was his name? It started with a C. Craig, no. Chance? Wait, it had to do with running. Chase.
Of course it was a name likeChase. Seriously, was the universe playing a joke on me right now?
“Is there something you needed, Chase?” Maybe if I pretended all of this was normal, it would be.
He cleared his throat. “Uh, no, sir. I’ll just head back and finish up for the night.”
I nodded and casually walked back to my office as though nothing unusual had occurred. Once I made it through the door, I slammed it shut and strode into the bathroom.
God, I loved a woman with curves. But what the hell had made me run after her? I’ve always had far more restraint than that.
She’d startled both of us when she’d opened the bathroom door. My hand stilled on the towel at my waist and I thought of how quickly my shock had turned into desire. Her blue eyes darkened like a stormy sea, her gaze slowly moved down my body, telling me she felt it too.
Her body called to me. When her nipples hardened under that tight shirt, and her gaze hungrily followed the water running down my body, I’d had to force myself to hold back.
I wanted to place my hands under her luscious ass, haul her up to sit on top of the nearby counter while I licked and nibbled at those taut peaks. Then run my tongue down her body until I found the sensitive spots that made her moan.
The moment the tip of her tongue peeked out from between those pouty lips, lust slammed into me. I had to dig deep for control. If she hadn’t bolted so quickly, I might have tried to kiss her to see if those lips tasted as good as they looked. From her dazed expression, she might have let me. But I didn’t get a chance. She ran, and I chased after her like I was a fifteen-year-old boy.
I drew my hand down my face. What was wrong with me?It’d been too long since I’d last gotten laid.
I’d been working too hard, spending way too many late nights here, and had little time to play. I’d given up the late-night parties to focus on finding ways to prove myself invaluable. I hadn’t been with a woman since the ball.
My dad had hinted that if I could prove myself with this position, the next step would be working side-by-side with him. Which would place me exactly where I needed to be for the day when he finally decided to retire. I had worked far too hard all these years to let what I worked for slip through my fingers.
All these late nights didn’t leave room for the women I used to entertain. Although, if I was honest, I’d thought of little else but my mystery woman in the past four weeks.
I didn’t chase women. They sought me out more often than not, most wanting the same thing I did: a night of hot sex and nothing else. Even though I wanted that sexy blonde to stick around, it was good she’d taken off when she did. She worked here, and that could get messy.
After I finished toweling off, I threw on a pair of well-worn jeans and a t-shirt. Tonight I was heading home. I’d given enough of my personal time to this company to prove I deserved a promotion. One night off wouldn’t change anything.
Shutting the door to my office, I moved down the long hall toward the elevator. My gaze darted around to see if a certain blonde that ignited a spark inside me was cleaning nearby. I was simultaneously relieved and disappointed not to find her.

“WHAT WERE YOU THINKING, Dean?” my father bellowed.
I shrugged. It was far easier to lie to Chase than it was to him.
I hated to disappoint him. He had worked hard his whole life to build this company into an empire, and I wanted to carry on the legacy he’d created. I strove to be the perfect employee to make him proud. Not just as a staff member, but also as his son.
“I’ve had enough of this. Please tell me you didn’t have a girl in your office again.” He sighed and sat down, losing his bluster.
My father never held back when it came to yelling at me. I assumed it was so everyone who overheard would know I wasn’t treated any differently than anyone else. My father had built his empire on being fair—yet ruthless—in his business negotiations. Being his son didn’t earn me any favors.
“Dad, that was one time.”
He stared at me. “You need to be on your best behavior. I’ve looked the other way with your late nights and extracurricular activities, but I need you to toe the line.”
What the hell was happening right now?
I never mixed business with pleasure, nor had I let my late nights affect my job performance. Something was up.
