“I know! I know.” I hang my head low. “I was worried after we talked to him that he was going to do that anyway, and I just couldn’t stand the thought of him getting away with what he’s been doing any longer.”
“It may not matter now.” He shakes his head unhappily. “Councilman Murbank is someone who can make thingsverydifficult for us. Not even the investigation. I am now worried about my job. If we are right and he is somehow seeking to be reelected to the Tribal Council, I cannot imagine I will be captain for much longer.”
“I know. I’m sorry.” This is thesecondtime I’ve put Khazak’s career in jeopardy. “After learning about what happened with Ny’s mom, and seeing how it was getting to him and Ragnar... I’m justso sorry.”
“I am dreading returning to the station on Lunaday. Assuming a demand for my resignation is not sitting on my desk as we speak.” He soundsdejected.
“What can I... Do you want to punish me now?” I just want to make him feel better.
“Yes, and no,” he flip-flops. “You certainly deserve it, seeing as you had no problem disobeying me destroying all of the trust we spent the last month and a half building in a single night.” His words make me wince. “However, punishing you will not resolve the situation. There is also the matter of…”
“What?” He’s hesitating aboutsomething.
“Since we made our ‘deal’ for you to stay here, your infractions and my punishments have been more on the play side of things—”
“Except that time after I met your family,” I helpfullypoint out.
“You provoked me into doing that,” he responds flatly, crossing his arms. He’s right. I did.“My point is, perhaps it would be better to—”
“What, you don’t think I can take it?” I cut him off.
“It is not a contest, David,” he answers with a sigh. “You are leaving in two weeks. I just think you would rather not spend those experiencing any more discomfort than necessary.”
“That’s not the deal we made.” I puff out my chest. “I’m a man of my word, Sir. I know you said that it won’t fix anything, but…would it help you feel any better?” I leave out that there’s a good chance it will also makemefeel a little better.
“It might be a start... Are you certain, pup?” He’s really trying to give me anout here.
“I am, Sir.” I nod.
He studies me for a moment. “Alright, then we can get started with the first part before you visit your friends thismorning.”
“Firstpart?” There’s going to bemultiple?!
“Come with me, please.” He stands, crooking two fingers at me as he walks down the hall. I follow him into the bedroom, seeing him rummage through one of his chests.
“Aha, found it!” He stands, holding something shiny and metallic in his hand. “Strip and lay on your back on the bed with your feet hanging overthe edge.”
On my back?I remove my pants and underwear before following the unexpected order.
“Now I take it you have never seen one of these before, correct?” He steps between my spread legs, holding out whatever is in his hand for me to get a closer look at.
“What is it?” It’s definitely metal. It looks like a couple of rings attached to a cylinder. A cylinder that looks alotlike a dick, complete with a head.
“A chastity cage.” So, itisshaped like a dick... Wait, chastity cage?!
“And what are you going to do with it?” I eye the contraption warily now that I know what it’s for. I’ve heard of a chastitybeltbefore, but mostly as a joke, like what dads say they’d put on their daughters. Which is pretty creepy when you thinkabout it.
“I think you are smart enough to figure that out.” With a smirk, I watch him turn a very small key at the top of the cage, allowing him to separate the shaft from the bottom ring. “Of course, you had to pickyesterdayto pull your stunt.”
“What was yesterday?” I don’t remember there being anything special other than the fancy event.
“It is more about whattodayis.” He sets the shaft of the cage to the side. “It is the 13th of Geminus. Happy birthday, David.”
My eyes go wide. It’s my birthday?I haven’t exactly been keeping track of a calendar beyond the day of the week. I guess I knew it was going to happen while I was here. I just didn’t think about it. I open my mouth to ask about getting some sort of birthday reprieve from this, but close it when I think about how that would defeat everything else Ijust said.
“Thank you,” I tell him when I realize I haven’t said anything fora minute.
“That is all?” He’s teasing, but he still sounds surprised at my lackof fight.
