There wasn’t a lick of humor in his voice. That made there not be a lick of dryness in my panties. It looks like on day three, I’ll have a man.

When we got backto Euri’s house, his brothers were gone. They weren’t in his house, but they were sitting in Aaron’s front yard. They were a strange pair, but hilarious from what I could tell. They came over to meet Casper, who was unfriendly until he was told he could be. Aaron had a dog as well, so he offered totake Casper with him for the night while we spent time together. There was no need for that since I wouldn’t be there all night.

That man had so much food in his house, but they were things that you had to fit together in an unorthodox way so that it made sense. Luckily, I was an unorthodox woman. Life had taught me to make a dollar out of fifteen cents. I could also make musubi out of a can of Spam, short-grain white rice, teriyaki sauce, and nori (seaweed sheets). The nori, I did have to order. I could have made something simpler, but I wanted to make something different for him.

“This shit is good as hell, Bruqlyn. I can’t wait until my brothers find out that my woman can make spam and rice cakes.” Euri stuffed a musubi into his mouth.

My face scrunched for a second. “They are called musubi, sir.” I giggled. “I’m happy you like it. Thank you for helping me, I guess.”

“Damn, you said that like moral support isn’t helping. Those ass rubs I gave you were motivational. I can tell from how good this taste.” He was so damn serious that even he had to laugh.

The entire time I cooked, he stood behind me with his arms wrapped around me and his lips on me. If his arms weren’t wrapped around me, then his hands were on my ass. He was right. It was very motivational. “Well, I don’t mind your kind of motivation.”

“I got other kinds of motivations that you’ll learn about at some point.” He finished the last musubi on his plate. “So, you want to spend the night with me?” My expression must have shown some hesitation because he lifted his hand. “We don’t have to fuck, Bruqlyn. I just want to start the real process of being up under my woman.”

An uneasiness covered me. My eyes trailed to the living room where Casper’s traitorous ass was stretched out on his back, asleep on Euri’s couch. His ass was actually damn snoring. “No,I don’t think I should spend the night tonight.” My mind raced when he gawked at me like I just spoke a different language. “Casper and I have a very set night routine,” I blurted.

His head tilted to the side. “Sweetheart, I’m going to tell you that doesn’t make sense because your routine is already broken by you being here. I’m not going to trip though. We got all the time in the world to adjust routines. It is only day negative one of our relationship. I’m not rushing shit.”

I picked my glass of tea up to take a sip. I wanted to cover the sigh of relief that I took. Most dudes, or at least the ones that I’d experienced, would have gotten mad and been on complete, utter bullshit. Euri could have been on bullshit, but he planned to show it at a different time. Only time would be able to tell if Euri was the man that he showed himself to be in these last couple of days, or if it was that famous fuck boy facade.

 A Short Time Later…

“Girl, the fact that my brother has you bringing those things to him out at the worksite is crazy. What’s crazier is that you bring enough for everyone,” Karla said with laughter. “He got himself a good one because I would never.” She referred to my musubi.

Euri introduced me to his sister, Karla, three weeks into our relationship.Wow! I’ve been in a relationship for over a month.Time really flew by, and I loved it for me. When he introduced me to his sister, he said that it was a soft introduction before he introduced me to his parents.

Karla was such a cool ass female. She was four years younger than I was. I thought she would be a lot less mature than she was, but she pleasantly surprised me. Throughour conversations, I learned that she and Euri had different mothers, but his mother raised her for the most part. I hadn’t met Ms. Marsha yet, but if Karla was a product of her influence, I had nothing to be worried about.

“Girl, hush. You know you love it when I bring food to the office or site,” I teased. I pointed at my eyes, then at the bowl of food that she was enjoying. “You love my food.”

Karla held her finger up. “First, how do I know you cooked this? We are at a food establishment with other cooks. Just because you brought the food out here to me doesn’t mean that you cooked it, ma’am.”

She had a point, but I cooked what she was eating. She came into the restaurant for dinner and spent time with me. We’d been out a few times together since we met, and I enjoyed myself because she was an artsy girl like me. “Well, I did cook that.”

She rolled her eyes, sucked her teeth, then smiled. “It tastes good, sis. You staying with my brother tonight or going to the park?” she asked before she put more of the stuffed baked chicken in her mouth.

“I’m going to the park. Norma picked Casper up from day care today. I miss my baby,” I told her. “Did I tell you that your brother paid his day care for six months? I saw the auto draft wasn’t taken out, so I asked hot ass Karen about it. She said he came in, paid six months in advance, and put his card on file. I switched the card back out, but yeah.”

Her fork clinked on the porcelain plate. Here we go. “Why do you do that? If my brother put his card on file, then guess what? Your man put his card on file. Why are you so resistant to sleeping at his place, sis? You’re treating him like he got roaches.”

My lips poked out, nose scrunched up, and brows furrowed because, what the hell? “Girl, what? I never said that man had roaches. I just don’t feel comfortable spending the night yet.”

Like his spirit felt us talking about him, Euri came into view. I didn’t expect to see him. When we talked earlier, he told me that he was going to chill at home tonight. “What’s up, baby,” he greeted before he kissed my lips.

“Hey, baby. What you doing here? I thought you were chillin’ at home tonight?” My body turned in his direction after he sat in the seat next to me.

He was so damn fine in his relaxed lounge attire. I wasn’t sure how I felt about him in those sweatpants. That would be a discussion for another day. “I came to get you. Your shift is almost over, right?”

“Yeah, it is, but why are you coming to get me?” I was completely confused. When he told me that he came to get me because he wanted me to spend the night, I was more baffled. “Baby, I’m going back to the park. Casper is wait?—”

“I picked Casper up from Norma and Grant earlier. He’s already at my house.” His monotone threw me off just as much as his words.

I loved that Euri was a direct person, even aggressive to a point. It was something different. He was forceful. “Wait, what do you mean? Why would you pick Casper up from Norma and Grant to take him to your house? Now I have to go there to get him to go home.”

My head tilted toward Karla. She wore a soft expression. “Hey, I’m going to head out,” she announced. I knew it was real because she didn’t ask for a to-go container for the rest of her food. Before she left, she walked over and kissed me and Euri on our cheeks.

“You don’t have to go home. You can just spend the night at my house,” he said with an arched brow. When I told him that I felt more comfortable sleeping in my van, he shrugged. “Cool, I’ll sleep in the van with you.”
