“Green curry, and I haven’t, no. I’m on a tiny tight budget.”
“Well, let’s see how they are then. We’ll grab a menu so we can order from them later if we like what we get.” Bran headed for Gladstone. “What’s the cross-street, babe?”
“Um… Kent? I think.”
“Excellent. How was work, Jamie?”
“Okay. It was work, you know? Not a passion. If I’d known you were coming, I would have made you both lattes.”
“Ooo, perks!” Silas licked his lips.
Bran laughed. “That was unintentional, wasn’t it, love?”
“Absolutely, but you can assume we’ll pick you up. That way you’re safe, taken care of.”
Bran nodded. “Silas is right. Even if you’re going back to your closet instead of to our place, we’ll drive you.”
“Although I feel like the guest room has plenty of space for you.” Silas winked back, and Jamie blushed.
“You should definitely bring more of your things over,” Bran suggested as he pulled into a parking spot a few doors down from the Blue Dragon. “I’ve been clearing the bedroom for you.”
Jamie blushed dark. “You have? But I’m—that’s—Wow.”
“We want you with us.” It was as simple as that. “Come on, let’s go get food.”
“Do I look okay? Not too dirty?” Jamie had taken off his apron.
Silas looked him up and down. “You look great. Really great.”
Jamie blushed bright pink. “I—thank you. You both look amazing too.”
Bran inclined his head. “Thank you.”
Then he held the door to the tiny restaurant open for Silas and Jamie. The place did have a pair of two-seater tables, butwas clearly set up as a take-out joint. “So green curry for you, Jamie? I’m going to go for a red curry—I like things spicy. Silas will likely get a teriyaki bowl if they do them here.”
Silas nodded. “Indeed, I will. I like a little sweet with my spicy.”
“There’s something about green curry. I just love it.”
“I like a green curry, too. But if I can get something with a little more bite.” He gave Jamie a wink, teasing a little.
That earned him a grin, and he got hard at the sparkle in those pretty eyes.
He leaned against the counter to hide the tenting in his slacks and ordered their meal, adding some spring rolls, as well as three desserts for them to share out: banana roti, coconut custard, and a pandam rice cake.
Silas was holding Jamie’s hand, frowning over it, deeply.
He paid for their dinner and took the receipt with their number, then moved over to his lovers.
“What’s going on?”
“He’s got a serious burn, Bran. On his hand. Look.”
Sure enough, there was a line of blisters on their boy’s hand.
“It’s no big deal. I hit the steamer wand.”
He tsked. “Did you doctor it when it happened?” He went through their medicine cabinet in his mind. They had Solarcaine, but no second skin. There was a Shoppers Drugmart on the way home if he took Bank.
