“Oh, okay.” He yawned and stretched his arms above his head. I looked over his small bedroom and it reminded me so much of my own childhood room. Video game posters hung on the wall, afew Lego sets were displayed neatly on a bookshelf, and stacks of well loved comic books were on his nightstand. It would have been so much easier to connect to Lilly if she were a boy. I didn’t know what to say to her anymore. She was growing so fast and her interests changed all the time. By the time I picked up on a game or hobby, she’d dropped it like yesterday’s news.

“How are you feeling? Does your leg hurt?”

“A little.” He stared off toward his blank TV screen. There was so much I could say to him. I could bring up the bullies and how I was grateful he stood up for Lilly. I could spout off for hours about injuries and the healing process. Out of all the things, I felt confident in my knowledge when it came to that stuff. He was tired though, hurting too, and I was sure he wouldn’t want to talk with me. I was an adult who he barely knew.

“Why don’t I go get your mom?” I said, turning back into the hallway.

I opened her door a few inches wider, careful not to make any abrupt sounds. Olivia was flopped across the bed, arms cradling her head and her ass up, with a thin white blanket covering her lower legs and feet. I forced myself to avert my gaze from her ass and took in her room.

Her bedroom was only a bit bigger than Alex’s, with a queen-sized bed taking up most of the space. The walls were empty of photos and the only other furniture to be seen was a basic floor lamp in the corner and a white wooden nightstand.

Olivia was still wearing what she wore out last night—those cute heart pajama pants smeared with cake. But as I got closer I noticed the strap to her tank top had slid down her shoulder.

Wes, don’t be a creep.

Too late. I was a sucker for side boob and Olivia’s tits were too perfect not to peek. One peek. Then I’d wake her.

Except at that very moment she flipped onto her side and her tit came popping out to say hello.

“Oh, fuck.” I backed away, smacking my elbow into the lamp which, of course, knocked it over. And because it was my lucky day, she heard the commotion and bolted upright, tit still out.

“Wes? What’s wrong? Wait… did you knock over my lamp?” Her voice was heavy with sleep.

I did what any respectable person would do… clenched my eyes shut. “Uh,” I cleared my throat. “I did, sorry. But um…”

“Why are your eyes closed? Is Alex okay?” Panic laced her tone.

“He’s fine. It’s just…” I let the words tumble out in one breath.“Yourtitisout.”

“What?”

“Your tit is out,” I repeated slowly.

“Oh my God!” she shrieked. “Were you creeping on me?”

“Is it put away? Can I open my eyes now?”

“Yes… it’s put away. Seriously? I never thought you’d be the type.” I opened my eyes as she was checking over the rest of her body and straightening out her hair.

“Wait? You think I was looking at you on purpose?” I crossed my arms and tried to manage a casual stance. While I didn’t come in here to ogle her, I didn’tnotcheck her out. But that information would live and die in my brain. If my cock could get the message and simmer down, that would help too.

“Why else would you be in here?” She climbed out of bed, but then thought better of it and perched on the edge, rubbing her temples.

“How about because your son woke up asking for you? I don’t need to creep on sleeping women, Tiger, so put your claws away.”

She scoffed. “Oh, because you’re beating the ladies away with a stick?”

“I didn’t say that.” I huffed a breath. She was staring up at me with flared nostrils and narrowed eyes. “I meant that I don’t need to be a creep to see a pair of tits, okay? Plus, you’reyou… I don’t look at you that way.”

Fuck. I was a grade A, lying dick.

Her face fell, but only for a heartbeat, before her scowl returned. “You should go.”

“I’m sorry. I don’t know what just happened, but I promise I wasn’t looking at your tit.”

“It’s fine. I need to check on Alex.”

“Yeah. Okay.”
