“When you say we, this means you and Wes?” Mia teased.
I grabbed another fry. “Yes, it means me and Wes. He came with me to see the doctors.”
“Aw, you guys are such a cute family,” Mia said. She took a bite of her sandwich and added, “I’m so happy for you, sis. I know I was crabby about you doing this behind my back and everything but I think I’m starting to get over it.”
“I had to talk to her,” Kendahl added. I shot her a grateful smile.
“Ooh, speak of the giant, sexy devil. Hi, Wes,” Mia said, waving.
I turned to find Wes walking across the floor toward us. His chef’s coat was unbuttoned and gaping open, showing off his fitted white undershirt. I swore his abs rippled as he walked like some anomaly of nature.
“Ladies,” he said, grinning at them. “Enjoying your food?”
“So much,” Kendahl said, her eyes lingering on his chest. “It’s yummy.” I kicked her under the table and she yelped.
“Excited for the party tomorrow?” Mia asked Wes. He met my gaze and I raised a brow. I had no input there. We were roped into this New Year’s Eve party and there was no backing out.
“Yeah, sure. I haven’t been to a party in a long time. It’ll be fun.” He sounded as excited as someone who opened a pack of socks for Christmas.
“And you’ll get to meet my fiancé finally,” Kendahl said with a bright smile. “His name is Coby. I love to say fiancé. It makes it feel real.”
I could relate. Every time Wes saidmy wife,it was a dose of reality.
“Looking forward to it,” Wes said. He ran a hand through his hair and adjusted his bun. Mia nudged me with her shoulder and waggled her brows. I was definitely checking him out. “I’ve gotta take care of some paperwork in the office. See you tomorrow ladies.”
“I should go, too,” I said. “I have to clean up and check on my other tables. You guys need anything else?”
“You sure you’re not following Wes into the office for a little afternoon quickie?” Kendahl teased.
I groaned. “You two are the worst. I’m giving you to Kelly.”
“No! She never gives us free cake like you do,” Mia said.
“That’s what you get for being annoying.” I smiled and turned on my heel, but with my gaze still focused on them, Ismacked face first into someone. Why did I never pay attention when I walked? I looked up into the face of dimple guy.Great.“Sorry!”
“Olivia, you okay?” He held my shoulders to steady me and I nodded. “Glad you weren’t carrying anything.”
I blinked, noticing someone familiar at his side. “Sifu?”
“How’s it going, Olivia? Haven’t seen you in a while.” What was my Krav instructor doing here with dimple guy? Mia and Kendahl spotted them and hopped up to say hi. “Looks like the whole gang’s here.”
“Hey, Mark,” Kendahl said. “Happy holidays.”
“Nice to see you,” Mark said. “I heard about the engagement. Congrats.”
“Thanks. Coby took me by surprise.” They chatted for a minute about Kendahl and Coby’s plans until Kendahl turned to dimples and asked, “Mark, who’s your friend?”
“Sorry, that was rude of me. This is my old friend, Damon. He’s opening a gym in a few months, so I’m teaching him the ropes.”
“A Krav gym?” I asked, intrigued by this new development.
Damon smiled, and even though I hated myself for it, my stomach flipped. He was way too hot to be smiling at me like that. “Not a Krav gym, although I’d love to offer self defense classes. It’s a general fitness club… Personal training, classes, equipment. Back in New York, where I’m from. I’m grateful to Mark for all his help.”
“That’s awesome,” Mia said. “We’ll have to check in with Mark once you’re up and running to see how it turns out.”
“I can do a walk through on Facetime.” He looked right at me and grinned. “Olivia don’t forget to text me your number. You still have mine, right?”
Mia and Kendahl shared a look of shock before they regained their composure. “Yeah, I think I do.”
