“Too bad all these people are here. You looked so fucking hot practicing before and now you’re whimpering. I bet you’re so wet—“

I didn’t let him finish his sentence. Quick as a damn caffeinated squirrel, I bucked my hips—hard and sent him off balance. Then I gripped him tight with my leg already hooked in position and threw all my strength into rolling him over.

“What the—“ he said.

My chest heaved as I straddled him with my smuggest grin. I watched his stunned look and pressed into his hard length, gyrating my hips for good measure.

“Looks like the squirrel beats the mule today.”

Planting a wet kiss on his lips, I climbed off him and left him lying on the ground to watch my ass as I walked away.

“That’s what you get for underestimating me.” I chuckled. I couldn’t wait to tell Mia later.

“I never understood the appeal of this movie.” I shoved a handful of popcorn in my face. Coby laughed and popped a few pieces that landed on my lap into his mouth.

“I can’t believe what I’m hearing. It’s a classic example of love conquers all,” he said.

I pressed stop on the remote to banish the image of swans flying over a lake. What a dumb ending.

“I get that. Noah is definitely the hot, mysterious type. The way he looked at Allie…swoon. But is it really the great love story people make it out to be? Like the house, for example, yeah, it was cute that he painted it the way she wanted, but it was his dream to buy it.”

Coby rubbed his chin. “Okay, you have a point. What about the letters though? That was romantic as hell.”

I scoffed. “Or creepy as hell. Move on with your life man. You dated this girl for a summer, fought constantly, and made it seem like her lifestyle was wrong. I could go on and on.”

He sat back, deep in thought. “You’re kind of right. Fuck. Why do I feel like my entire life has been turned upside down?”

“I’d say I’m sorry, but I’m not.” I wiped my hands on a napkin and put the nearly empty bowl aside. It wasn’t lost on me that my relationship with Coby hasn’t been all that different from that of Noah and Allie. A summer romance that ended before it really began due to a lack of communication.

“Okay, now that I know you’re practically a one-woman Rotten Tomatoes, what’s your favorite romance movie?”

“Easy. The Addam’s Family.” I grinned as I watched his face morph with confusion.

“You’ve got to be kidding me.” He shook his head, chuckling lightly.

“Gomez and Morticia, baby. They are one hundred percent the embodiment of a healthy relationship. He adores her, worships the ground she walks on, and isn’t afraid to show it to anyone, anywhere. In turn, she does the same for him. They take care of their family, are pillars in their community, and aren’t afraid to let their freak flags fly.”

The man who had a comeback for everything was stunned silent.

“Holy shit.” He pulled me into his lap, which made some of my fallen popcorn kernels spill to the floor. “So you’re saying I should be less Noah and more Gomez?”

“Oh yes. Gomez always.”

He lifted my arm out to the side and peppered kisses up and down while making the loudest, most obnoxious smooching noises. Once my arm was good and wet from kisses, he went for the curve of my neck. I laughed so hard, I almost peed. And we were definitely not at the point in our relationship where peeing in his lap would be something I could laugh off.

“Oh my God, I’m going to pee my pants if you don’t stop.”

He lifted his head, his gray eyes like molten metal. “Okay, okay. Gomez would always listen to Morticia’s commands. Plus I’m not into any pee kinks.”

I scooted aside and went to use the bathroom, wondering how I ended up with this goofball. When I came back into the living room, he had poured me a glass of wine, set out my favorite cheese and crackers, and had The Addam’s Family queued up on the TV.

“Ooh, I’m very much liking what you’re thinking.”

I plopped next to him. He picked up my legs, put them on his lap covering them with a blanket and rubbed one of my feet. Damn, he was good at massage. No wonder his clients love him. He’s told me that his favorite thing to do in his practice is to stretch and work his client’s muscles manually.

“Feel good, baby?”

“Uh-huh,” I hummed. I was practically drooling. He pressed play on the remote and went right back to kneading.
