She brushed her lips over mine. “Yes,” she breathed. A shiver made its way from my spine through my muscles before I claimed her lips.

I started slowly, tracing her lips one at a time with my tongue. She opened for me and breathed a moan into my mouth. Her sounds had all my blood rushing to my cock. Our mouths moved in a slow rhythm as she rocked on my lap.Every dip of my tongue teased sounds from her lips. Every whimper and moan set me more on fire for this woman.

“Lie back for me, love,” I said as I lifted her off my lap. A pink flush traveled up her chest toward her cheeks. I loved all the ways I could tell that she wanted me as badly as I wanted her. I hovered above her, kissing the curve of her neck down the base of her throat.

“I’ve been waiting all night to pull this tiny dress up and devour you.”

Propped up on her forearms, she raised a brow. “Well, what are you waiting for?”

Good point baby.

When she came with my name on her lips, every fiber of my being knew I’d never want to hear my name out of another woman’s mouth for as long as I lived.

I rolled over in bed, but my hand landed on a cold pillow instead of Kendahl’s waist. “Babe?”

I sat up and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. Darkness still cast the room in shadows except for a faint glow coming from the opposite side of the room.

“Sorry, did I wake you?”

Sitting in the armchair, her knee bounced a mile a minute, making the light from her open phone seem to vibrate.

I reached for my water bottle on the side table and took a sip. “Not at all. I just rolled over and found a pillow instead of you. Everything okay?”

“Yeah.” Grabbing a hair tie from her wrist, she twisted her hair into a bun. “No.” She hesitated and pulled her hair down. “I don’t know.”

I pulled the blankets down and patted the spot in front of my lap. “Come here, baby.”

With her phone held tightly in her hand, she nodded and came to sit. I pulled her back into me so I could wrap her up in my arms. “Is it the interview?” She nodded again letting her loose hair tickle my chest. I gathered it in my hands and pulled it back for her, then kneaded her tight shoulders.

“Mmm, that’s nice.” Her head lolled back onto my shoulder, and I felt her body relax.

“Good girl. What’s bothering you?” I murmured against her cheek.

“I don’t know if I’m making the right decision. It’s a lot.” She nuzzled into the crook of my neck. “When I sent my resume, I never thought I’d actually get a call. Stratestar is huge, Coby. Like A-list celebrities huge. The CEO had a reality TV show for a season…like that big.”

Massaging the base of her neck, I said, “Of course they’d want you. You’re incredible. You’re a force, and they’d be lucky to have you.”

“Yeah?”

“Of course. And so what if they’re famous or whatever, they’re human like the rest of us. Be yourself, and I’m sure they’ll love you.”

“Mmm, thank you.” She turned and planted a sweet kiss on my lips. “I kinda like sweet boyfriend Coby.”

“Sweet? Hmm, it seems my reputation might be in jeopardy here.” I laughed.

“Oh, it definitely is. Just wait until I tell everyone at the gym how much of a sweetheart you are.” She nipped at my nose, then my chin.

“Okay, you’re in trouble now.” I pulled her across my lap and gave her tight ass a playful smack. “I think I need to show you how not sweet I can be.”She screeched and giggled, trying to escape my grasp.

Chapter 32

Kendahl

WakingupinCoby’sarms to bright sunshine streaming in through the window gave me a renewed feeling of confidence. I wanted to cringe at my vulnerability the night before, but somehow, he had made it easy to reveal that side of myself. We’d slept in until well past eleven and woke in a tangle of limbs with the blanket somehow lying on the floor.

As Coby went downstairs to get us some coffees and something to eat, I sat watching the time tick down on my phone. I’d gotten myself as presentable as I could with what I had packed by curling my hair to frame my face and applying a full face of makeup. Comfy road trip clothes were all that was still clean in my bag, but I’d fished out my cardigan to hide the faded blue T-shirt I wore.

After finally being able to charge my phone properly last night, I was inundated with more messages than I’d thought. I had texts from Claudia and Lee, DMs from every one of my social media accounts, and missed calls from unknown numbers. I scrolled the notifications and saw that my mother had called me at some point during the storm.
