“No, nothing comes to mind,”I said in a sickly-sweet voice.
He walked toward me. His frame was so much larger than mine that I had to lean back against the bureau as I yanked the duvet up to my neck. The room suddenly became ten degrees warmer.
“You don’t remember asking me to stay, do you?” He bent inches from my face, rendering me speechless for a moment.
“No, I wouldn’t do that.” I shrugged away from him and side stepped toward the door.
He chuckled, then reached down to grab his pants and put them on. I eyed him with a raised brow.
“What’s the laugh for? And your shirt too please. I’ve seen enough of your nakedness.”
“Am I making you blush, Kendahl?”
I scoffed. “You wish.”
Being the jerk that he was, he turned around, giving me the perfect view of his tight ass, and bent to pick up his shirt. I choked on a breath. “Unfortunately, I can’t wear this because it’s covered in someone’s puke,” he said, raising his brow. “My room’s down the hall though, so it’s fine.”
“Yes, good. Okay then…” I swallowed down the lump in my throat, walked to the door, and wrenched it open. “Bye.”
Two complete strangers stood outside my door. I looked down at myself covered by only a hideous duvet, then over at Coby, barefoot, in nothing but his dirty jeans. We looked like we had a wild night.I turned without a word and shut the door in their grinning faces.
“What the fuck? You think they’re housekeeping?” I didn’t see a cart, and they hadn’t knocked. They threw me off guard. Like who the hell ambushes someone in front of their door that way?
Leaning against the wall, Coby let out a hearty chuckle.
“What’s so funny? That was mortifying. I’m going to issue a complaint.” I paced. “Yeah, let me call the front desk right now. You think they’re here this early in the morning?”
“Kendahl, it’s eleven. I checked my phone a few minutes ago.”
My eyes opened like saucers. “We slept that long?”
He shrugged like it was no big deal. I never slept this late even hungover. We had the itinerary to think about and I was never late. Today was a morning workout on the beach. Although the rain would have nixed that idea.
“Let me throw on actual clothes. Turn around.” I dug through my bag looking for a sweats and a T-shirt and finally found them at the bottom of my bag. Coby laughed again as he faced the wall.
“You know I saw you in your bra and panties last night and this morning, right?” he said.
“Yeah, yeah… that doesn’t mean you need another free peek. Okay you can turn around.”
Now that I was decent, the only thing left to handle was his still half-nude state. I rummaged some more through my bag and found the only thing that would potentially fit him.
“Here.” I tossed my Lilo and Stitch nightshirt at him. “This should fit you. At least it’ll be something, so you don’t have to walk out of here,” I gestured with my palm, “like that.”
He held it out in front of him, suppressing a laugh. “Stitch? Cute. But you realize, this will look ridiculous on me? It’ll be less attention-grabbing for me to walk back shirtless.”
I’d never seen him look this amused.
“No. Just put it on, okay? And go find out what those people want.”
He squeezed into the nightshirt, and wow, he was right. He looked hilarious. I tried to hold in my laughter, but I couldn’t.
“See, I told you. This thing is skintight. I may have to cut it off.”
“Ruin Stitch and you’re dead meat mister. Stitch is sacred.” I covered my mouth to hide my smile. “Now, go.”
He opened the door, and I stood to the side, peeking out to see if anyone was there. Much to my annoyance, the same two people were leaning casually against the hallway wall. The guy looked to be in his midtwenties. He was thin and had longish hair that was tied up in a man bun. He wore baggy shorts and a Ramones T-shirt. Something about his face looked familiar but I couldn’t place how I knew him.The woman at his side looked to be around the same age. Before I could notice any details about her looks, my eyes stopped on her hand holding up a cell phone directly at us.
“What the—”
