Everything would be all right. She believed that to the very depths of her soul. He was her duke and hers alone. This was where she belonged.

Epilogue

Over twenty years later…

Eleanor sat in the sitting room at her son’s, Daniel, the Marquess of Hollibrook’s etate. She had been married to the love of her life for several years now. That love had given her a son she cherished, and now she would have a new grandchild to give some of that love to. Daniel’s wife, Amelia, was about to give birth to their third child. They already had two children, Everett, the Earl of Brookfield, and Genevieve.

“You’re anxious, love,” her husband said. “Amelia will come through it fine. Just as she had the other two times.”

Eleanor had never became pregnant again. They had tried often, but Daniel was her only child. It was a blessing to have grandchildren. “I’m certain you’re right.” She could’t help her worry though. She hated to imagine what her son might go through if he lost his child or his wife. That was a horror she’d never with upon anyone, espeically her son.

Her husband lifted her hand and pressed a kiss to her palm. “Life is full of surprises. It’s how we handle them that define who we are. Whatever happens we will take care of it.”

She nodded. Her greatest challenge was learning how to be a duchess. Eleanor would never regret marrying George. Her love for him was everything she could never have imagined. They had only grew to love each other more over the years. “Yes, we will,” she agreed.

The door swung open and her son entered the sitting room. A wide grin was on Daniel’s face. His dark brown hair was a little disheveled but his gray eyes were alight with happiness. “It’s a girl,” he told them. “Mother and baby are well. We have named her Gabriella.”

Eleanor placed her hand over her chest. Her heart beat heavily inside of her chest. She had worried over nothing. She now had one grandson and two granddaughters. She was blessed. “When can we see her?”

“Soon,” Daniel told them. “The doctor will let you know. I’m going back to my wife’s side. I jsut wanted to give you both the good news since you’ve been waiting for hours now.”

“Go,” George told their son. “We will be all right on our own. Go be with your wife. She needs you more than we do.”

“We’re truly blessed,” Eleanor told her husband.

He leaned over and pressed his lips to hers. “I have never been more sure of anything. Since the first moment I glanced you’re way you’ve beguiled me. I love you, Ellie dear.”

She placed her palm on his cheek and then leaned into him. “You have all of me, forever. I love you.”

They had lived a good life together. Whatever fate had left for them she welcomed it. Eleanor had no regrets, and never would.
