Remy walked over to join them.He had on a thin, dark brown leather jacket over a white t-shirt.His faded blue jeans did wonders to his ass.Any red-blooded female would notice…even Ashlyn and she had no desires on Scarlett’s half-brother.Remington Wyatt was a very good-looking man.He had brown hair streaked with gold.He had grown it out over the past year, and it was long enough to graze his shoulders. His eyes were a dreamy blue, and he had a face that haunted women’s dreams.Remy was a beautiful man.“Are you ready?”he asked Scarlett.

“Yes,” Scarlett said enthusiastically.“Tomorrow JD and I are leaving for our honeymoon.Tonight, I want to leave Sparkle City with some music that will linger while I am gone.”

Remy laughed.“Then let’s go sing a few songs. The band is waiting for us.”

Ashlyn was so happy that Scarlett had found out that Thatcher Wyatt of Harrowed Souls was her father, and she had Remy for a half-brother.Her sister finally had everything she’d ever wanted.A brother, a father, and the only man she’d ever loved.A part of her envied Scarlett.Ashlyn would never have anything close to that.

Remy and Scarlett strolled onto the stage.Scarlett grabbed the mic, and the crowd went wild. They launched into their first song, a fast one, and the dance floor filled. They were mostly hopping and screaming, but they seemed to be having fun.

“This is better than we expected,” a man said nearby. He had a thick Russian accent.“I’m glad I convinced you to come.”

Ashlyn turned around to look at him.She frowned. They were on the Sparkle City Fireflies along with Harrison. At least they hadn’t dragged him with them. The one that had spoken was Ivan, something or other.

“You’re a pretty thing,” Ivan said.“You dance?”

Oh, hell, no.He was huge and terrifying. She could see why he had been nicknamed Godzilla. She couldn’t imagine how she could possibly dance with him and not walk away unscathed. He could squish her with his pinky finger.“Um…”

“The answer is no,” Harrison said.“She’s dancing with me.”

Ashlyn froze.Harrison was a preferable choice in many ways, except one.He would take it as a sign she had given in, but if she didn’t dance with him, then Ivan might think she preferred him. What was she supposed to do?“I am?”she lifted a brow.“I don’t recall you asking me?”

“Darling,” he said in that smooth tone of his.“Your eyes said everything.”He leaned down.“The sheer terror of the idea of dancing with Godzilla and your life flashing before your eyes.Let me save you from that fate.”

Her lips twitched.“You’re being so chivalrous.”She met his gaze.“I don’t need a white knight.I can save myself.”

“I never doubted it,” he told her.Earnestness filled his gaze.“Please dance with me?”He held out his hand to her.

She glanced at his hand and then at Ivan.Ashlyn smiled at him.“Perhaps you can convince Faith to abandon the bar and join you for a dance.”

“Not tonight,” Faith called out.“Maybe not ever.”

“You both are so mean.”Ivan grinned.“I’ll go find a willing woman. There has to be one here that likes to dance.”He wandered to the floor and joined the revelry.

“So?”Harrison asked.“Are we dancing?”

She stared at the floor and thought, why the hell not. They could bounce around like the rest of them.“Sure.”She held out her hand to him.He walked with her to the floor and as they reached it the fast song stopped.

“This one is for all you lovers out there,” Remy said.“I wrote this for all the lost loves out there.May you one day find your way back to each other.”

Ashlyn had regrets. She couldn’t back out now.She would have to let Harrison lead her onto the floor and hold her.Ashlyn prayed she would make it through the dance without breaking down.Harrison slid his arm around her waist, and she drew in a breath. When he pulled her closer, she knew she was lost. The only thing she wanted more was for him to press his lips to hers.If he did that, she’d never be able to stay away from him again.

The dance was the beginning of the end for her…
