He hadn’t been certain who it was until he turned around. Then he frowned. When had Linc come in?Had he really been in that sour of a mood not to notice? He pasted a smile on his face.“Hey, man,” he said and clasped hands with him, then did a half hug.“When did you get here?”

“A while ago.”Linc glanced around the room.“I need to start doing something or I’ll go crazy.I’m still not cleared for play but I can do light exercise.”Linc rolled his eyes.“I thought I do some skating.”

“You up for that?”Harrison lifted a brow.He didn’t ask the one question burning on his tongue.Did the detective on the case call him about Ashlyn’s vision? If he hadn’t then Harrison didn’t want to be the one to tell him.

“As long as I don’t overdo it.I have to keep a light pace.”

Harrison had hoped to skate in something more akin to brutal than sedate, but he could lighten it up for his friend. It was the least he could do.“I was going to put on my skates.I’ll join you.”

“You don’t have to…” Linc glanced away.“I can’t do much.”

“I just did a lot of leg curls.I probably shouldn’t do too much on the rink.Otherwise my legs will be jelly during practice.”He didn’t need to know that Harrison had planned something different.

“Then I’ll welcome the company.”Linc smiled slightly.“Thanks for being a good friend to me through all of this.I don’t…” He swallowed hard.“I feel useless.”

“Have they found any new leads?”Harrison couldn’t stop from asking at least that much. His friend seemed so lost.

He shook his head.“Nothing substantial.I can’t shake the feeling that I met the guy somewhere before. If he wasn’t a fan…” He frowned.“How could I have known him?”

Harrison shrugged.“He might be someone from your past that was in the peripheral.Maybe someone from our college days?”

“Maybe,” he said.“I just don’t know.”

Harrison wanted to tell him about Ashlyn’s vision. The problem was, he could not be certain if it would hurt him or help him.Ashlyn would be the first to tell him that something might not be the same or it could change. He wished she would have shared the one vision that affected his life.It occurred to him that he did not differ from her in this instance. He was keeping a secret from Linc the way she kept one from him.

Maybe he had been too hard on her. After practice, he would call her.She might be more than willing to talk to him after they both had time to cool off.“You still don’t remember much about him?”

“No, and that’s the most frustrating.”He sighed.“I keep trying but it’s out of focus.”

“I wish I had answers for you,” Harrison said.“This is all so…”

“Yeah,” Linc said.“It is.”

They didn’t need to name the frustration they both felt.Linc and Harrison had been friends for many years. They understood each other well. They changed into their gear and went out onto the ice. After that, there was no need for words. The skate felt good and Harrison let himself be enveloped by it.The rest of the world could wait.
