“Ivan and Alek want me to go to the opening night game, but I don’t want to go alone.”She batted her eyelashes at Ashlyn.“Will you pretty please come with me?They’re fantastic seats.”

Ashlyn froze. She had planned to watch the game later. In the privacy of her own home, where no one could see her.Going to the game… That seemed as if it would be a terrible idea. She could barely control herself around Harrison as it is.At least at the game, he would be too busy to talk to her.He would have to keep his head in the game, and well, he was the goalie.Harrison didn’t have any reason to come near the fans.He had a net to protect.Still… “I don’t know,” she said and wrinkled her nose.“There will be people there.”

Faith laughed.“You’re right. There will be.Lots of people love the Fireflies.”She reached over and patted Ashlyn’s knee.“Please.I’d ask Scarlett but…”

Ashlyn shook her head.“I don’t like hockey.”She was lying through her teeth.Hockey was her favorite sport and the only one she could tolerate.Of course, that could also stem from her obsession with Harrison.“You don’t want me there.”

“I do,” Faith insisted.“I want us to spend more time together. We’ve grown apart and I want to fix that.”She held up her hands.“And before you remind me again how much you dislike hockey… I have other plans for the day.Hockey will just end our day together. The best parts will take place beforehand.”She pressed her hands together and pleaded.“Say yes.”

Ashlyn hated that there was a rift between her and her sisters. She wished she had done that part of her life differently. They were her family, no matter what. She could have remained close with them over the years. There was no changing the past, but for what little time she had left, she could change from now on.“All right.”She pressed her lips together.“I hope I don’t regret this.”

“You won’t, I promise.”Faith clapped her hands together excitedly. Her dark hair bouncing on her shoulders as she spoke.“Now finish your coffee so we can leave.I scheduled appointments for us and we are going to do some shopping.”She glanced at Ashlyn.“You need to update your wardrobe.Do you even own a pair of jeans?”

Ashlyn glanced down at her gray silk, wide leg, cropped pants and frowned.“What is wrong with these? They’re comfortable and classy.”

“Exactly,” Faith said.“They don’t belong at a hockey game.

Ashlyn couldn’t argue with her logic.“Well, I don’t attend many hockey games now, do I?”

“That’s why we are going shopping.”Faith wiggled her eyebrows and laughed.

Ashlyn sighed and took a drink of her coffee, then took her cup to the kitchen. She dumped the remaining liquid down the drain, then rinsed the cup and placed it in the dishwasher. After that was done, she went to her bedroom and slipped on a pair of white strappy heels on.She slid a cardigan on over her white silk blouse.

When she walked back into her living room, Faith was staring out the window.“I’m ready.”

Faith turned around and smiled at her.“You really are elegant.”She let out a wistful sigh.“I’ll never be that put together.”

Ashlyn would rather be spontaneous and fun, like Faith. She should tell her that, but she held the words inside.“Shouldn’t we be leaving?”

“Of course.”Faith nodded.“Let’s go have some fun.”

Ashlyn hoped she wouldn’t come to regret this day her twin had planned.Faith was one of the best people she knew. She would hate it if she somehow disappointed her.
