As much as she wanted to get to know him better she didn’t want to give him the wrong impression. She didn't jump at the chance to be with anyone. She respected herself too much to fall for the first gorgeous face who stirred anything inside of her. Amethyst Keane would not be a tramp and if she chose to pursue something with him...it would be a carefully thought out decision. He was nice and she did want his help later, so she gave him some hope to hold on to. “Maybe I'll take you up on your offer.”
“Oh?” His eyebrow rose with curiosity.
“I'll get back to you later after I’ve had time to rest.” With those words she turned around leaving him in her wake. Amethyst stopped and looked around the room. She noticed the artfully decorated main room of the inn. A small couch and two plush chairs flanked a petite table in front of a fireplace with a marble mantle. The marble along the column of the fireplace showcased detailed carvings. She wanted to run her fingers across them and study every facet, another time though. More pressing things needed to be done before she could give into her random whims. Turning around she gave her full attention to Cooper and smiled at him before she walked to the staircase. At the base of the stairs she turned back to find him staring at her again.
Yeah buddy I can't get enough of looking at you either.
She gave him a quick smile before saying, “I forgot to ask. Where's a good place to eat?”
A brilliant smile formed on his face as if he won the biggest prize of his life. Cooper's charm oozed out in a million watt smile. Amethyst tilted her head and thought again how much she couldn't wait to get to know him better.
“There are only a couple of places to eat in town. You probably passed them on the way through town. There's a small Italian place that has really great pizza and pasta. It's called Giovanni’s. If you want something more traditional like a burger then I suggest you visit the North Point Café.”
Hmm well that is more of a selection than she thought she would have. She nodded her head at him and said, “Thanks”.
Cooper's face became crestfallen when no forthcoming invitation to join her followed her inquiry. “No problem.”
He must have assumed she would invite him along. Maybe another day, but today she didn't feel up to extra company. She needed time to process everything and map out a plan. She turned back toward the stairs and walked to the top. Each step she took taking her closer to the room that would be her home for the next few weeks. So far this vacation was topping her list of favorite places ever visited. She only hoped it lived up to all of her expectations.
