“Because you were right. It’s not just a promise ring.”

Tears flowed from her eyes. She was scared to turn around. “Benny.”

 “Lorielle Elise Dawson.”

 “Benny…” She wept.

“Turn around and give me your hands.”

She turned and Benny was down on one knee.

“This is crazy!” Yet she placed her hands in his.

She was doing more than that. She was laying her life in his hands.

“I don’t need six months or six years to know that you were made just for me. Baby, I know you’re tired. I know you’re weary. I want to take care of you, and I promise to love you every day. And as long as you promise to do the same, we’ll be alright. Lorielle, will you marry me?”

 “Yes.”

The single word slipped out of her mouth, surprising her and Benny.

He climbed to his feet, cupping her face. “Yes?”

 She nodded. “Yes.”

“I love you, Lorielle. I promise to be everything you need me to be. I won’t let you down,” he whispered in between kisses.

“I trust you, Benny.” She trusted him with her love and her life. “And I love you too.”

Everything moved quickly after she said yes. It reminded her a lot of Jo’s wedding, but it was something about it being only them and an officiant that set the tone. No extra guests. No cameras. Just them exchanging vows and embarking on a new journey together. She was sitting back and letting Benny take the lead.

After their wedding, they had a lovely candle-lit dinner that was served on what Lorielle liked to call the crown of the castle. Up on the tower, they ate steak and lobster served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Once again, they were surrounded by lovely mountain views.

A castle with her own personal knight, dinner by candlelight, soft music, and amazing views. What more could she ask for?

“How were you able to pull this off?” she asked Benny after wiping her mouth.

Everything had been taken care of from her dress and flowers to the food and the clean-up crew. The only thing they had to do was enjoy.

“They have an eloping package. I will say it took a bit of charm and financial finessing to pull it all off so soon, but nothing is too good for my lady.”

Lorielle lifted her left hand to look at the sparkling ring on her finger in amazement. It carried a whole new meaning for her. “I can’t believe we’re married.”

He took her hand and kissed it. “Believe it. I’m happy as hell. This has been the best day of my life.”

“Mine too.” She started thinking about who she wanted to share the information with and that made her drop her hand. “What am I going to tell Jo? Oh, and my mother! What about your parents? Oh my God, Benny!”

The attendant chose that moment to come up and take away their dishes. When he left, Benny tried to comfort her.

“Hey, hey, hey.” He came around the table, pulling her from her seat. “We’re not going to think about that. When the time is right, we’ll tell them. Right now, I just want to stay in our own little world we’re in out here.” He kissed both cheeks, then her forehead.

The attendant returned with strawberries and champagne that he set on the table. He congratulated them again on theirnuptials before bidding them good night. He would return in the morning to prepare them breakfast and make a basket for lunch to take out and have a picnic.

 They thanked him.

With a promise to lock up behind him, the attendant left them alone.

 “Dance with me.”
