I chuckled.“No.I get it.I don’t want to be re-potting plants with Carlos five years from now.God willing, we have a lot of years left.We should spend them purposely.”
“Okay,” he breathed, exhaling roughly.“Okay.”
After a few minutes of silence, he chuckled.“We’ve had some of our best talks in the car.”
“This wasn’t one of them,” I grumbled.
His voice warm, he teased, “Are you being a grumpy arse?”
I laughed.“A bit.”
He squeezed me again.“It’s going to be okay.”
I hazarded a glance at my handsome husband.
He grinned, the old Aaron, the menace I first fell in love with, peeking out from behind the lifetime of worry in his eyes.
“It’s going to be great.”

It sucked.
Stripping off my clothes for the second time that day, I cracked the window, spread out on the bed, and contemplated the ceiling.
I sniffed and blinked back the tears at my body’s betrayal.I had itty-bitty nipples, a dry coochie, and a plummeting sex drive.
Erratic emotions, hot flashes, foggy thinking, it all sucked, but the sex issues bothered me the most.We’d always had a stellar sex life.
Some might say we started too soon, but up until recently, we’d never run out of steam.Even sleep-deprived with small kids, we still had a great sex life.
When they were teens?We mastered the quickie.
I was insatiable.
Now, if he didn’t initiate?I didn’t even think about it.
If Aaron’s hands began to roam, it didn’t take me long to get on board.He knew my body, how to touch me, make me squirm, and could take me apart at the seams and put me back together better than when we started.
Our week at the cabin pressed the reset button.Closing in on another weekend, we were better than good.

He chuckled as he rounded the corner.“I can’t believe you’re naked again.It’s like Christmas every day.”
“Doesn’t feel like Christmas from here,” I grumbled.
“Really?”He raised his eyebrows, clearly delighted.“When we got this special delivery right here?”He held up the package of PH-balanced lube for me to see.
I rolled my eyes and laughed.
Flicking the cap open, he wagged his brows.“Having an empty nest isn’t all bad.Let’s give our new toy a test-drive.”
I pushed myself up on my elbows.“She said to use a lot, much more than we think we’ll need.”
