“Well, that’s a thing. And Dia is here, so perhaps things are normal.”
When they walked in, the three ladies were seated with charts and notes, and to Nylora’s surprise, Leo was sitting with them. The mayor’s assistant waved and said, “I do love a good baby shower. You look tired.Get to bed.”
Demuel shrugged.“I know a good idea when I hear one.Morning, Miss Wicks.”
She grinned and accepted Solor’s bow before their little triad headed upstairs. It had been a long night, but when they finally nodded off, she was toasty warm and wedged between them, their hearts beating together, and Bump’s pulse on hummingbird between them.
Nylora was actually beginning to sleep when they were in contact with her.Hopefully, the paternity test would come through quickly.Blood worked faster than saliva.

Isocar carried theplants to the party, which was slowly kicking into high gear. She walked up to Hannah and held out the four saplings.“Happy housewarming.”
Hannah looked at the plants.“These are going to be gorgeous.”
“Yes.Dia, Nylora, Kaitha, Myor, and I put them together. They are warding trees.Once the property owner accepts them, they will walk to the corners and set up a protective energy field. It will live here as long as you and he do.Or as long as your descendants do.A little extra support for Abert.”
Hannah smiled.“Thank you.I will make sure Neekil gets them started. He’s explaining touch football to his brothers. We may need Nylora’s skills with stitches.”
When Hannah took the plants, they stirred and started moving.“Whoa, what’s going on?”
Isocar smiled.“It’s not who legally owns the property; it’s who spiritually owns the property. That is you and Neekil. The plants can’t read paperwork.”
Neekil came over, and the plants were explained. He touched them and held Hannah’s hand. The plants jumped up and out of their pots, running to the four corners of the property.
Isocar laughed.“They have a lot of energy.Kaitha supplied plenty of sugar.”
Hannah smiled.“They look energetic.”
Neekil grinned.“This is a fun beginning to the party. How long will they last?”
“Until the trees die.A few hundred years.”She shrugged.“Plenty of time to plant some guardian stones.”
“Thank you, and thank the ladies as well. Are they coming?”
“Um, Nylora is coming.Solor and Demuel are coming. Were the others invited?”
Hannah smiled.“They all were.My parents are a little startled by the extranaturals, but they are adjusting well.My brothers are loving it, but they are a little leery about the idea of football against the XIA.”
Neekil chuckled.“Or my brothers, hell, even Sable.”
Hannah chuckled as the living statue was talking earnestly with Hannah’s parents.
A vehicle pulled up, and a pissed-off Nylora hopped out of the back passenger side.Demuel got out, trying to soothe her.“It isn’t the worst thing.”
Solor walked around the vehicle and wrapped her in his arms.“It’s fine. It’s just until you get off mat leave.”
“I have a disciplinary in my file now.I am so fucking pissed. My clean record is a thing of the past.”She stomped on his foot and punched him in the stomach.
Solor sighed and grunted, standing slowly.Nylora was stalking off to pick a fight, and Demuel followed her before she got to the dark elves.
Neekil looked at Solor.“What’s up?”
“They took her off active duty.It was Hannah’s query for the ambulance records. The director looks really bad because they didn’t use half of what Nylora told them in the ER.They could have kept you from the third heart attack if they had just listened to or read Nylora’s notes, so...she made them look bad.”
Neekil said, “We do have a flag football game happening in a few minutes.”
“She’s pregnant.No possibility of contact.She’s mad, and I don’t want your family hurt.”Solor sighed.
