“Dylan, I’ll go with you. I’m sure we can call a cab or something to get us there.”
I belted out a scream of frustration because I knew there wasn’t a way that would get us there in time. Sera whined at me and pulled me into a hug. “We will get there! I’m going with you and we will put a stop to Lupe before she can do anything to your pack.”
“No! I won’t have you go there! Lupe will use you against me like she did with Silas.”
She shook her head at me. “Do you really think I’m going to just sit here and let you go out there without me? Hells no. I would rather fight beside you than sit here worried about you!”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea. My pack wouldn’t know you from everyone else and could confuse you with Lupe’s minions. I won’t have your blood on my hands.”
She growled, which was completely unlike her. “Then rub your damn scent on me! I won’t stay here. Even if you leave, I’llsteal a car or something to drive there, anyway. Might as well just let me come along.”
Knowing her, she would do it. If she would not stay here, then I would have to use her idea to get her to smell like us. It would be a good way to bring her scent to something familiar so my pack wouldn’t confuse her with the others.
When I looked behind her, Teowulf was still standing there. He wasn’t looking in my direction but at the ground, almost like he was trying to look like he wasn’t paying attention to us but was still listening in. I growled, not liking his presence. He may not have known about Lupe, but how could I trust he wasn’t feeding information to her? It would be the perfect cover.
“Oh, I’m going to pretend to be heartbroken by Lupe’s rejection so I can follow you and expose your plans.”Yeah. Right.
Teowulf must have felt my glare because he looked up at me. His eyes were red, and there was a hint of glow from his wolf. There was grief written across his face like he wished he wasn’t here because, if he hadn’t been betrayed, he wouldn’t be. As much as I wanted to feel for him, knowing Lupe was possibly at my pack’s house took away my feeling of empathy for him.
“I will be coming with you.”
“No,” I told him.
He furrowed his eyebrows and face contorted. “Why would you turn down my combat skills for this battle?”
“You were mated to her!” I said through my teeth. “You could have stopped this before it started. There is no way you didn’t know this was all happening. You are a feared fighter and wolf. Nothing gets past you, but somehow your mate did. I don’t buy it!”
He stepped toward me, and then three pissed off males swarmed me. They all growled and made Teowulf back off. The professor looked at me and shook his head.
“I don’t know how she kept this from me. The bond was never closed off for me to think she was keeping something from me. I can’t tell you how that happened. I didn’t even know it was possible to hide something like that from your mates. Not even her personality or mood shifted at all from the norm,” he let out a shaky sigh. “But if I know one thing. It’s that she is my problem, too. I will be there to help you stop her one way or another. So either count me in your plan, or I will find a way to get there myself and stop her.”
The speech was moving, and I could smell the truth in his words. He honestly didn’t know. That surprised the shit out of me, but at least I knew I didn’t have a bigger traitor amongst my ranks.
“Fine. We just need to figure out how to get there and fast.”
That was the problem. The fastest ways in and out of the academy were by train or car. Neither of those was an option because it could take hours to get to my pack. Teowulf had spent years around the other species, and he couldn’t come up with a spell or anything to take us there.
“What about the Fae? What if I made a deal to get us teleported there? Would that work?”
Teowulf shrugged his shoulders. “I’m not sure. Their magic is trickier than the warlocks or even the angels.”
Angels.
There was the answer. Arabella told me she owed me one, and they had wings. They could be the key to getting me to the pack in time. The bond between Arabella and me was still there, and she owed me a favor for capturing Noah!
“Guys, I think I have a plan.”
Chapter Twenty-Five: Dylan
There was something about this bond that made me wish it could last a lifetime. It was supposed to fade, but since it hadn’t, I used it to call Arabella down to the academy. There was a fear of her being too busy to answer my call, but I felt through the bond her recognizing the pull and a wave of urgency coming back down to me. She was coming, and I needed to get to a place where she could see me.
Urging everyone to get outside so we could get ready for this, none of them seemed happy with my plan. My three mates were growling and snarling at me when I said an angel could carry them to the pack to save time. I thought Hunter would be the most vocal about it, but I was wrong. It was Jackson.
“So you mean to tell me some dude with wings will carry me across to your pack? No. I will not be manhandled by a dude with wings.”
I shook my head at him. “It’s our only shot at getting there in time.”
“We are wolves, love. There’s a reason you don’t hear about us on planes. We don’t deal well when being in the air,” Hunter told me as he stepped out of the dorm and into the night air.
