I nodded. "That's the only thing we have outside of his description since I noticed him when we took that walk."
We talked out a plan after I gave the details. It wouldn't be easy to track him down. Hunter said it must have been the reason behind why no one had brought him in already. I begged to differ because I figured it was because of Lupe spending all of her free time on her mission to make everyone more wolf than man.
During the discussion, I noticed Hunter kept eyeing Silas. Hunter's background being an Enforcer would help us on this mission, but it also meant he would keep an eye on Silas. I wondered if this would become a problem, but I had my answer after we finished creating a plan of action to bring Noah to the angels.
Hunter pointed a finger at Silas and stepped closer to him. "I see Dylan has at least accepted you into her circle, but you haven't won her full trust. Since we are switching our focus on tracking down a douchebag, I wanted to tell you something. I will be watching you. Just because you were there for our mate when we couldn't be doesn't mean shit." Silas remained calm, and his face gave nothing about his emotions away. I tried to step closer to Hunter to make him stop, but Jackson grabbed onto me and pulled me against his chest. Hunter continued. "I don't trust you, pup. You hired someone to kill her, and now you suddenly want her? I don't buy it."
"I don't need you to buy it. If anything, I need Dylan to feel it." Then he sighed. "But that's not the issue here. You don't trust me for hiring you. Fuck," he ran his hands through his hair, this time not spiked with gel, "I wouldn't trust me either after that. That was my father's influence more than anything. I don't feel that way anymore."
"What. Changed. Your. Mind?" Hunter said through gritted teeth.
Silas didn't look at Hunter, but pasthim. Good. he wasn't trying to challenge Hunter. Silas’s power was undeniable, a palpable aura that commanded respect.
"The Great Moon. Our Creator visited me and explained to me that my rejecting Dylan was a mistake. She made me see reasonwhen I started questioning my choice to reject her in the first place."Jackson's hold on me loosened, and I felt this conversation would take a turn. I just hoped in a good way. I didn't feel like cleaning up blood. I really do prefer my room as it is. "It's not like I expected the Enforcer my father hired would be fated to Dylan. I'm still not sure how that worked out other than the Great Moon stepped in. I came here right after the Great Moon talked to me. I saw the error of my judgement and moved quickly to fix it. That's what I'm doing here. I want to be mated to Dylan because I know I made a mistake. If it takes months, then that's the hand I've been dealt after making the biggest mistake of my life."
Hunter laughed, and a chill went down my spine. That laugh sounded like death was on the horizon.
Chapter Thirteen: Dylan
The plan was simple. Hunker down around the angel dorm and wait for the dumbass to walk around stalking Arabella some more. Upon arrival, we found the place deserted. I found myself staring up at the sky as if an angel would stare at us while we did this. A faint trace of Noah remained near the dorm, suggesting a prior presence. It didn't deter us.
We needed to find this guy.
Hunter strategically placed us, preventing Noah from unnoticed entry or exit. It was a perfect set up and something I would expect from an Enforcer. The only exception to the placements was Silas.
Hunter gave Silas a different job.
My Enforcer mate still didn't trust Silas, even after they talked things out. Instead of allowing him in an area where he could end up attacking me without my other two mates next to me, he sent Silas off to the guard booth at the gate to the academy to bring Noah here. It was definitely a solid plan as long as Noah was at the gate. If he wasn't, we would need to hunt for him through the woods. According to Talia, he hadn't been staying in his quarters since the man knew he was in deep shit for attacking Arabella.
I had the perfect view of the door since I could shift into my wolf the fastest. We suspected the man would enter the building to search for Arabella, despite her absence from the academy. No one updated Noah on this to keep her safe, which I agreed with. No one needed to know she wasn't here–Noah, especially.
An hour had passed, and there wasn't a sign of Silas or Noah. Without the bond completed, I couldn't reach out to Silas to ask what the holdup was. Thoughts of Silas getting hurt came tomind, but I couldn't leave my position to go find out. Though I harbored some resentment, I didn’t wish him harm.
When I looked over in Hunter's direction, he shrugged. He must have been thinking the same as me about where Silas was, and I at least knew he hadn't seen Silas's whereabouts from his angle, either.
While distracted to look for them, I noticed Noah trying to rush into the dorm. Silas was nowhere to be seen, making me believe he was running after Noah based on the man's pace. Noah was nearly at the dorm; Silas was not. If he had the keys, he could at least get into Arabella's dorm. Even though she wasn't there, that felt right to me.
So I shifted.
Borrowing my mates' power helped the shift become seamless, and I sprinted toward the wolf. He didn't notice my wolf until I leaped off the ground and was close to sinking my teeth into his shoulder. He backhanded me, throwing me off my trajectory, and I landed on my side when I hit the ground. The landing knocked the air out of my lungs, and all I could do was watch Noah lift his foot to stomp on my face as he hovered over me. Hunter jumped toward Noah next, swinging his enormous fist toward the wolf's face. Noah didn't seem to think I would have backup, so he didn't anticipate Hunter, giving him the advantage for the swing to land with a crunch against his jaw.
Jackson was at my side to check on me, but I sucked in enough air to get to my feet. Hunter was in a fistfight with Noah, and it didn't look like my mate was losing. For a moment, I thought it was a standstill as Noah blocked everything Hunter threw at him. If me or Jackson didn't step in, though, Noah could escape.
That could not happen.
I had to bring this asshole to justice.
The bond Thalia placed between me and Arabella sang with life as I thought about her. It was like how it felt when I thought about my mates, but nothing sexual. It drove me to jump off the ground and onto Noah's back. The fierce protectiveness I felt for her rolled through me, and if I couldn't settle it down, I would kill Noah instead of dragging him to Thalia. My teeth sunk into the opposite shoulder of my first attempt, the metallic taste of blood coating my tongue. I felt the wind through my fur as Noah's body tumbled to the ground. He fought defensively, yet aggressively.
It was like he was hungry for blood... for violence...
It hit me like an ice bath. The reason Noah was hellbent on mating to Arabella was exactly what I feared. The wolf dominated; a glance at his eyes confirmed it. Noah was losing to his wolf, making him feral. He wanted Arabella and created this need to bond with her in his head, making his wolf believe it was there, too. His obsession mirrored Camilla's for Jackson; redemption proved impossible.
Noah writhed underneath all three of us, and it would continue until we managed to knock his ass out. Most of the time, sheer power wouldn't make a wolf submit. He was all animal now and wouldn't reason with his human side. He swung his arms, which were partially shifted to his wolf's paws, and swiped at all of us. Hunter had his arms at his sides, but I wasn't sure if it would be enough to restrain him even with me on his back and Jackson on his legs.
This would suck if we couldn't knock him out. My wolf howled to kill him because it was the only justice that we could bring him, but this wasn't my call anymore. The most I could do was knock him unconscious and bring him to the angels. They wanted his head, and I agreed to give it to them.
Hunter was on it, though. With my weight as the wolf, it was more than my human half, but we needed Jackson's weight tooto keep him down. Hunter called out to Jackson to sit on his back, and I put my muzzle around the back of his neck while pushing my power into him, hoping to reach his wolf to make him stop so we wouldn't accidentally kill him. Hunter got close, drew his arm back, and connected his knuckles against Noah's temple.
