Her lips curved into a small smile before putting a hand on my shoulder. "You are here to mend the bond between you. Dylan has spent the last six weeks here, so it will take time. But just that. Time. She told you what to fix, so you have a starting point. And one piece of advice, Mr. Lynch."

I perked up a little, hoping Lupe had actual advice for me.

"Do try to talk to Dylan outside of class. She's angry, but she's also someone that needs to see action. Words mean nothing to her unless you have the action to back up those words."

"How would you know?" I questioned.

"I observe. Despite popular belief, I'm a teacher, not a robot."

Then she left without any goodbye. I ignored that and opened the door to my room. It was bigger than what I expected. It had a desk with a chair in the corner and even furniture on the left side of the room. The bed looked comfortable enough, and there was another door that, upon closer inspection, led to a bathroom. Everything was decorated in warm tones and wolves were in painted words along the wall. It felt like home, but Iknew it wasn't. I guess it was like staying in a host pack’s room when traveling. Dylan was supposed to be my home, and she was on a floor above me.

I fell onto the bed, face down. The bond between me and Dylan continued to burn with her being so close to me but out of reach. Everything inside me wanted to go to her floor and ask to begin our mending by getting to know each other, but I knew it would be the worst idea I’d had thus far. Lupe's mate may teach combat and wouldn't allow the mates to kill me, but neither of them were here to stop it from happening right now. I just had to wait. Maybe during class, or even in the cafeteria, I can find a way.

I will fix this. I will get her to forgive me.

Chapter Two: Dylan

My fury toward Silas paled compared to my feelings for Lupe. The urge to jump across the desk and rip the woman's head off her shoulders after everything I had gone through already. The cherry on top was hearing Lupe try to say Wilcox couldn't teach Silas about Shadowborns. That was not something I would allow. I knew deep down Lupe would try to push Silas into hating Shadowborns more or somehow convince him to join her nefarious tribe of people, thinking they were the key to unlocking the wolf within. Considering Silas rejected me for being a Shadowborn, it may be easy to do.

We are one. There is no reason to erase the walls between our minds.

I'm glad we agree. I thought I'd have to lock you in a box for the foreseeable future for a second.

My wolf huffed at me.We work together well. No reason to change that.

Again, I'm glad we agree there.

"What did you tell Silas he had to complete while here?" Jackson asked me.

My mate was on the bed with his arms back to keep him propped up. He hadn't styled his dark hair, which was tousled, and his moss green eyes studied my face. I placed my head in his lap, looking up at the ceiling as Hunter massaged my feet. Jackson started playing with my hair when I growled at hearing my ex-mate's name. The moment his fingers started working through the small knots and combing through my hair, I wasn't sure why I was mad anymore.

"I told him to write an apology letter and that he had to be on his knees while reading it to me by the end of term."

Jackson chuckled. "Considering you are the most powerful female in the werewolf sector who kicks people's asses, I would think it would be much harder than that to win you back."

I let out a chortle. "Ha. That wasn't all. I also said I wanted his mentorship to be him learning about how Shadowborns aren't the root of all evil. But not from Lupe. I demanded for it to be Wilcox."

Serafine spit out the water she had been drinking. I looked over at my red-headed friend, noticing her curls were looser than usual, her green eyes watering from choking on her drink.

"You did not!" she said in between breaths.

"I did. There was no way I would allow for Lupe to have one-on-one time with Silas. I don't want to kill the man the Moon Goddess wants me with."

Hunter pressed hard in the middle of my foot, coaxing a moan from me. I felt my cheeks flush a little since Sera was in the room as I just made a sex noise. I noticed when Hunter's bright-blue eyes locked on mine, and a shiver went down my spine. His heated look alone could make me become slick with need for him. Adding in his short hair and short scruff on his face made me want to see if he would massage somewhere else...with his tongue.

"So you plan to complete the bond with Silas?" Hunter questioned me, ending my naughty thoughts about him.

Well, that was a bucket of cold water I didn't know I needed. I couldn't gauge his feelings on that question because he'd closed off our bond. There was a wall there to keep me out. I drew on my wolf's power and pushed harder at the wall, signaling to Hunter I didn't like him keeping himself closed off. He lifted his brow at me, but kept the wall up. Seeing how he would not budge, I moved on. He was doing it for a reason, but he wouldn’t say why because of Serafine being in the room with us.

"It's up to him. I know I don't owe him anything after rejecting me, but if he grovels enough, I'm not opposed."

"Interesting," Hunter said and went back to applying pressure on my foot.

"What is?" I challenged.

He sighed. "I won't tell you who you can mate, Dylan. I wonder, though, why you would even consider Silas to be one of your mates when he hired me to kill you."

My wolf perked up at his statement and began pacing inside my mind.He doesn't get to question why the Great Moon gave you the mates she did.
