"How would you like me to contact you when I have him?"
Arabella cut a look to the councilwoman who, in turn, finally paid attention to the male in the room. He’s much taller than both women, and his forest green eyes rarely strayed from Talia, but I’d caught him making small glances in my direction as if he was trying to decide how to react to me.
“We have an idea. It’s a little unorthodox and rarely occurs in this world; it’s also illegal, and the Seraphim Council as well as your own would be livid if they found out, but you and Arabella can create a bond between you; rather, my mate, Liam, can forge it for you. It’s not like a mate bond. It is only used to communicate over long distances at any given time, but it requires trust, and if the bond is ever broken, it is extremelypainful. If you are against that idea, then you can just get a message to me, but this other way would be a lot quicker.”
“I’ve already agreed, if that worries you,” Arabella adds confidently.
It’s almost as if they read my mind. This would be a perfect solution, and we would have a direct link to one another. At this point I’m not too worried about pissing off the council since our world is changing already. It would be good to have an Angel best friend, especially one as powerful as she is.
“I’ll do it.”
Chapter Ten: Silas
When Lupe asked Dylan to leave class, I thought I saw my moment to show her I could be trustworthy enough to be her mate. Jackson and Hunter had the connection with her, so they knew she would alert them if she needed them. I overheard them mention going to their next class and meeting with Dylan after, so I took it upon myself to track down where she went in the building. Would she like that Ihad done this? I don't know. Probably not, but Dylan was harder to figure out than I thought she would be.
Leave it to the Great Moon to give me a mate I can't quite figure out.
The teacher dismissed the class, and I immediately traced Dylan's steps by following her scent. It surprised me to see Lupe had taken her to the angel's office and not hers. What would the angels have to do with Dylan? It was unusual for any species to really mingle with one another around here. Many seemed to be too caught up in their classes or drama for them to notice another species. Had Dylan created a friendship with an angel? That would connect her to another powerful supernatural being after graduation. I don't think my father has a connection with someone of another species. I'm not even sure if he’s ever met someone of another species before. Many don't cross paths with a werewolf and become friends with them.
Others don’t really know us to be friendly. Maybe that's something we need to change. Shouldn't we know others from every species? We should know their customs and traditions, too.
That would be something I'd have to bring up to Dylan if I got the chance. She's been around here longer than I have and possibly met other students from other species.
She is speaking with the angels,my wolf pointed out.
He was right. Dylan was talking with the angels right now. What if they were asking her to team up with them on something? They could be giving her access to information and magic like nothing we've ever seen before for all I knew.
Getting ahead of yourself. Why would the angels want Dylan to have access to their magic?
She's a badass who can phase through walls like a ghost. That could be useful to any species of creature roaming through these halls.
The board wouldn't allow for that.
Well, we didn't think they would want to speak with Dylan in the first place.
Keep her close once she's out of here. This can't be good news if an angel wants her power.
I was standing outside of the door but couldn't hear the conversation going on inside. I leaned my back against the wall and waited for Dylan to come out. The door handle jiggled and, when the door opened, Dylan stepped through."I'll signal you as soon as I have him, Arabella," she said before closing the door behind her. Her eyes quickly scanned down the hall and then down where I stood. She lifted a brow at me, and her expression appeared bored. "What are you doing here?"
"I know you may not have told me everything, but I will not let you walk around this school alone."
She rolled her eyes. "My mates would know if something happened to me."
I smiled at her. "Yeah. Even me. Because I am going to walk you to the next class."
"I'm excused from my classes. None of my teachers have an issue with it either. I'm helping the angels out with something, and I could use this time to track down someone for them."
I folded my arms over my chest and watched her eyes watch my movements. Dylan put her hands on her hips and growled.
"I don't need a babysitter, Silas. Go to your classes."
"Fine. Walk with me."
She growled again and started walking down the hall. I chuckled and followed in behind her. A weird feeling came over me, and the hair on the back of my neck stood up. It was like a pair of eyes were on me, and my body shuddered at the thought. When I looked around the halls, I noticed Lupe suddenly walking down the hall as well. All the doors were closed from what I could see, so she had to have used her astral power to walk through the wall. Lupe's eyes were on Dylan, and I moved my body to cover my mates. I didn't like how Lupe looked at her. There was a predatory look in her eyes as she watched Dylan from afar. It could be coincidence she walked out into the hall when Dylan did, but something told me it wasn't.
I need to get the full story out of Dylan about this woman.
I couldn't ask just yet with Lupe right behind us. Dylan walked down through the right hallways to take me to the class we would be in next, and when she turned around, she glared at me.
