Hold up. Did I just think my BOYS?! Ugh. I'm claiming him already, even when I don't want to.

He is ours.

Not yet, he isn't.

We have owned Silas since our creation.

Shut up.

"Your issues with each other end here. You both are valuable to your mate." Jackson growled. "Get over it, Falstof. Lynch is another mate to yours. If Pierce doesn't accept the bond, then fine. That's up to her, not you. I'd say Lynch here has proven to be one who won't back down from a fight, though. With Pierce being a suitable match for powerful males, I'd expect you both to have to fight for and with her over the years. If you fighttogether, no enemy will stand a chance." Teowulf looked back at us. "Class is dismissed."

Then the professor walked off to the door without looking back.

Silas and Jackson walked over toward the rest of us. I smiled at Jackson, and he returned one to me. The cut on his lip had already healed over, but there were bruises on his face. All of them would be gone by morning after Jackson ate and got some rest. He wrapped his arms around me, pulled me up to meet his eyes without having to look up, and pressed a kiss to his mark, sending a wave of tingles throughout my body. I let out a giggle as my wolf rumbled her love for him. When he put me down, I saw Silas standing just a couple of feet away. Jackson turned to put me behind him, and Silas put his hands up in surrender.

"Listen, I just wanted to say I'm sorry about Lacey. I didn't realize how much that affected you before. You met your mate like a week later and then were sent here. We didn't get a chance to talk about it before now. I should've apologized sooner." Silas held out his hand to Jackson.

Surprisingly, Jackson clasped it and gave it a shake. "Thanks for your apology. I should've said something sooner myself. Doesn't mean I'm happy you are fated to Dylan, though."

Silas frowned. "I know. I'd apologize for that too, but that's not something I am sorry for."

He let go of Jackson's hand and walked away. I noticed his slumped shoulders, and our connection pulled me toward him. I could feel his sadness when I shouldn't with it being severed. He felt awful for doing what he did to Jackson, and how it now affected me. I shouldn't feel this from him yet. The bond still felt severed, but I could read Silas like I could Jackson and Hunter. My wolf couldn't explain it either when I asked.

How is that possible?

Chapter Seven: Dylan

Silas still hovered around us during class and in the cafeteria. Any time we were in the dorm, though, he didn't press to spend time around us. It was like he was hoping my mates would drop their hatred for him and let him near me so we could work on things.

But that would not happen.

Jackson's hatred toward him wasn't as much as it was before they fought. Teowulf's therapy sessions seemed to work for everyone who did them during class that day as the week went by. Drama still popped up around us as people got on each other's nerves. Tension was high with the curfew and other rules being enforced.

Which was getting on everyone's last nerve.

A group of werewolves were gathering together, trying to leave campus to go to Mystwood. I overheard them planning behind the dorm room after dinner and thought I could help them understand how stupid of a plan that was.

"There is a killer out there, and you want to risk it? They are targeting us and will kill you. You aren't untouchable," I told them as I rounded the corner.

One of them was someone from combat class, and I shook my head. I thought he would be smarter than this, but I should've realized he would push boundaries. Silas didn't seem all that sorry for pissing off his friend and making him challenge him at class either, so why would he be sorry about testing the boundaries of the new rules set in place? He must be a Beta who would love to become Alpha from the way he acted.

He glared at me like he wished he could challenge me right now. With Hunter and Jackson at my sides, he wouldn't dare.

"Wrong, princess. They are targeting Shadowborns. I can trace back my lineage to the first werewolves created, and none of them were Shadowborn. I think I'm safe."

My eyes couldn’t roll hard enough. "What makes you think this killer will stop there?" I challenged.

No one knew why Lupe was stealing Shadowborns, but I did. She could be working on how to break the walls of non-Shadowborns by now. I hadn't seen Lupe all week, and tomorrow was my mentorship with her. I couldn't wait for it because it meant I could potentially beat the shit out of her. Would they expel me if I killed her?

"Because they are the Enforcers’, like your mate back there, work. Wiping the remaining Shadowborns from existence sounds like what this killer is doing. Maybe it is an Enforcer... you should talk to your mate about that."

I had to stop myself from looking up at Hunter. I wouldn't let this guy get a rise out of me and question my mate. He was trying to flip my thoughts into thinking it was Hunter this entire time. My mate wouldn't do that. He would have confessed that to me by now if he had started this before he met me. Hunter was a better man than that.

"Nice try. This isn't an Enforcer. They Enforce the laws of our kind. Shadowborns haven't been breaking the laws."

He laughed and his cronies joined in. Jackson and Hunter growled as they moved closer to us. If they wanted a fight, they would get one, but these guys were stupid if they thought they would be the victors in this fight. There were four of them and three of us. We could take them.

Silas walked out of the shadows and stepped in front of us. All three of us growled in surprise, but then I noticed the others stopped walking to us with Silas there.
