“The firehouse never called her in. I called before I came here,” I confirm, and Grace's tears fall, and my heart stutters because I know Raya isn’t dodging me, I know something bad has happened to my girl, and ignoring that feeling this morning when I woke up was a big fucking mistake.
True fear radiates from the woman, and for the first time in a very long time, my fear builds. The fear that I’m about to lose the woman I’m in love with, the woman who has taken over every second of every minute of my day.
“When Raya was fifteen, she lost her father, her best friend,” Grace whispers and Gregory flinches but she ignores his reaction and chokes, “She spent all day waiting for her daddy to get home so we could go and celebrate with Ivy. It was the only thing she wanted for her birthday, though Chase did leave her the necklace she wears every single day before he got called into the firehouse, he never returned… breaking her heart.”
I fucking hated that necklace over the years, always thought some guy gave it to her before I actually read the engravement, and that should have been an eye opener for me – I was jealous.
Grace sniffles and admits, “Just before Raya turned sixteen, she went to get revenge, using a study date with the girls as a cover.”
“Revenge how?” I ask as I lean forward, putting more of my weight on my bike, my legs already weakening, knowing what she means, but needing to hear it.
“She tried to kill two Hyenas,” Grace confesses, her words shocking me.
I thought she meant burning down Hayden’s warehouse or something, not fucking murder.
Grace’s tears fall as Gregory admits, “She killed one, Venom, Anna, Blades' mama, covered it up after Skylar and Ivy found Raya being raped by the other and your dad got involved.”
No, no, no.
My breathing quickens as Grace finishes, “He nearly killed her, gave her memory loss, and I nearly lost my daughter, who was hell bent on revenge for her father after she spent three months in the psych ward being sedated after his death. She missed his funeral.”
“She promised us the revenge was done with after she woke up, and we believed her, but…”
I finish Gregory’s words, “But she hasn’t gotten in contact with you today when she calls twice a day.”
He nods while Grace sobs, “Find my daughter, Venom, please, before she gets herself killed.”
I nod once, trying to keep my hard exterior in place while on the inside I’m fucking dying hearing what my girl went through, that she allowed me to accuse her of shit.
Fuck, she was raped!
Turning my ignition, I rev my bike and back out of Grace and Gregory’s drive before speeding off down the road with my heart in my throat, the need to fall apart hanging on by a thread.
I need my computer, fuck, I need my brothers...
I speed into the club grounds ten minutes later, and Trent, who's clearly off bitch watch, just opening the gate enough for me, his eyes wide with shock.
I jump off my bike, allowing it to fall to the ground without a care, even as I hear something smash, my focus on the front door.
I hear Trent shout, “Fuck!” but I ignore him and rush into the clubhouse, it’s full to the brim because of a family day that I completely forgot about in swing.
“There you fucking are!” Blade shouts with a snap, but I don’t look his way as I run towards church and shout,“Emergency church now!”
I hear a lot of fucks and shits, the brothers hearing my panic in my voice as I enter the room and rush over to my laptop, still sitting on the table.
“Venom?” Fury questions with concern as he rushes in while my dad says, “Son?”
I ignore them, as well as the brothers who run in, as I log onto my laptop and then type away to encode my IP before accessing the government site and logging in.
“Cale, talk to us, brother,” Psycho demands, but again, I ignore him as Raya’s name comes up, and taking a deep breath, I click on it. And just like that all her information pops up on my screen.
I press a few buttons before the same information shows on the TV hanging on the wall, and Viper curses, “Fuck’s sake, Venom, you don’t want to do this!” while my dad rasps, “No,” reading what I’m reading as my heart breaks.
“Broken collar bone, five broken ribs, a punctured lung, internal bleeding, extensive deep scaring to the back done by a blade, concussion, i-internal tearing of the vagina walls, rape indicated, hymen torn, fractured kneecap… What the fuck!,” Brick chokes, and I fall in my chair, my eyes tearing at the words.
“Raya’s missing,” I croak, “I woke up at five this morning to her gone with a note claiming she’d been called into the firehouse, but she never was. Her mama admitted she’s been on a revenge kick for ten years since the Hyenas killed her father. It was one of them that did this to her before she turned sixteen.”
“You think she went after Hayden?” Dad asks, “Because, son, why would she wait until now, after what she went through?”
