I blinked again and it took all of my strength to get my eyes to open. My limbs felt heavy and I couldn’t even lift so much as a finger.
 
 “Shhh,” Tara said, not taking her eyes off of the road to look at me. “Just close your eyes. We’ll be there soon enough.”
 
 Oh, fuck!
 
 I tried to reply, but my mouth just fell open and the words came out in some sort of weird mumble-slur hybrid that made no sense.
 
 “You know, Gwenie? You really should be more careful about leaving your drinks unattended,” she said but in her tone, I could hear that something was off. “It was just too easy. The bar and now. You didn’t even see it coming, did you?”
 
 No. I most certainly did not.
 
 And that was the last thought I had before my eyes closed and my mind went dark.
