My feet moved, but it wasn’t fast enough. My blood boiled and I could feel myself shaking with rage. How fucking dare she talk to Ellie like that? Who the hell did she think she was? I should have seen this sooner.

Just as I rounded the corner, I saw Tammy’s hand rear back and then the smack rang out as she slapped Ellie’s cheek. Tank got there before I could and he protectively tucked Ellie behind him. I could see the rage pouring off of him as he held himself back. He would never hit a woman, none of us would, but at that moment he was having the same internal battle with it that I was.

“The fuck is goin’ on?!” Cal’s voice barked from the other side of the room.

Loch grabbed my shoulder, pinning me in place. I was torn. Cal was commanding the room and that meant you fucking stopped in your tracks. But I needed to get to Ellie. Loch’s fingers dug into my shoulder tighter as if he sensed my thoughts. I looked at Ellie. Her hand was up to her cheek and I could see the reddened skin around it. Her eyes were spilling tears and her mouth hung open in shock. Tank moved to put his arm around her and pulled her in tight to his side. I was glad he was there, but I was pissed I was so far away. I didn’t move, but my muscled remained tight and rigid as I waited to see what Cal was going to do.

“Tammy, I’m fuckin’ tired of your shit. I ain’t the only one. Who the fuck you think you are?” Cal said in a short tone, his eye twitching in anger. Despite the fact that the president was talking to her, Tammy didn’t back down.

“What?” She half turned towards Cal. “She’s nothing. She thinks that she can come in here like she owns the place. Just because she says thatthingin her stomach is his baby, don’t mean shit! He won’t even claim her, that’s how much he knows she’s full of shit and doesn’t want her.”

“Shut the fuck up,” Cal said, taking a calming breath. “You will have respect. You will respect the brothers and you will respect their women. Yes, he may not have claimed her, but she is carryin’ Diesel’s baby, and here that makes her a fuckin’ Queen. You fuckin’ hear me?!” He was losing his calm and I couldn’t blame him. She had the balls to roll her eyes at him. “I took you in when you had nowhere to go. You wanted to stay here. You were the one who started to spread your legs for every brother that would look your way. I never told you to. Never asked you to. You don’t like it then, good, you’re done here. Lake!”

“Yeah, prez?” Lake said, moving through the crowd to stand in front of Cal.

“Watch her while she packs her shit then make sure she leaves. I don’t care what happens to her after she passes through that gate.” Cal didn’t take his eyes off of Tammy the whole time he spoke.

“Done, prez,” Lake replied taking a hesitant step towards Tammy. She looked like she was ready to strike out at anyone that got close.

“You’re never to come here again. And don’t try to go to the other chapters. You’re not welcome anywhere near the Steel Paragons ever again.” With that, his eyes moved to find mine. He gave me a chin lift before he turned and headed out of the room.

“Diesel?” Tammy had the nerve to whine my name as I made my way over to Ellie.

Tank moved aside as I wrapped myself around Ellie’s small body. She was shaking. I buried my face in her hair, not even acknowledging Tammy as Lake and Brand practically carried her to her room. I whispered into Ellie’s ear that I was there and I wasn’t going to let anybody ever hurt her again. It seemed to calm her down. She clutched my shirt as her tears dried.

I knew I had to go. I sighed seeing Axe across the room giving me a look that said it was time to get moving. Pulling her face back, I kissed her deeply. My fingers tangled in her hair and her warm scent filled my nose. It took everything in me to break the kiss. I leaned my forehead against hers.

“You okay?” I asked and she nodded. Her cheek was still bright red and felt hot against my palm. I was pissed all over again. I placed light kisses over the swollen spot. “I gotta go, pixie. I’ll be back in a few days. I’ll call you when I can. I’m so sorry.” I sighed feeling like I had let her down again.

“It-it’s not your fault,” she whispered. “Go, I don’t want to hold everyone up. I’m fine.”

Reagan walked up behind Ellie and put her arm around her shoulders. I nodded thanks to Reagan, then kissed Ellie one last time.

“We got her. Think it’s time for a girls night, huh? Popcorn, chick flicks, and some crazy nail polish,” Reagan said with a sad smile.

“I’ll see you in a few days,” I said, wanting her to know that I was coming back to her.

“Bye, Diesel.” Reagan ushered her away and Jessica was right behind them.

I wasn’t worried about Jessica. Even though she was a club girl, she wasn’t crazy. She wouldn’t hurt Ellie, and given the chance, I could even see them being friends.

There was just one thing I had to do before I took off. I checked with Cal and he gave me a few more moments. I needed them anyway. I was still too wound up at what had just happened. After pacing my room a few times, I went in search of Lake. I knew he would be done with Tammy by then. Shouldn’t have taken but all of five minutes to throw her shit in a bag and toss her out on her ass. It was time to put things straight.
