Jack laughs “Hell yeah I do.”
Sophie nearly spits out her drink. “Jack, how much exactly have you let her have to drink?”
He smirks “Enough.”
I sit down and grin at everyone. I can't believe I'm here on this mini holiday. I feel like I’m acting my age for once. It's going to be fun.
Chapter 9
Robyn
Oh my god, this is not fun. Nothing about this is fun. I feel so ill. Flashbacks to swigging whisky from a flask then drinks on the plane, then drinks when we got to the hotel. Waywaytoo many drinks.
Sophie is up and walking around humming, buzzing around the room while I am slowly dying here. “Sophie, what time is it?”
“Oh, hello sleepyhead. Its 8 am, but we need to get breakfast before going to the track, it’s a beautiful sunny day and you haven't even unpacked yet.”
I look down, I'm sleeping in the t-shirt I travelled in and my underwear, at least I took my jeans off at some point.
“I feel so ill Sophie. I'm not used to drinking so much.”
“You were hilarious, the banter you had with Jack was so funny. None of us could believe you had it in you. You give as good as you get that’s for sure.” Oh shit, what the hell did I say? Beer fear now creeping in.
“Did I embarrass myself? Be honest,” I ask in a small voice.
“No way, you were funny.”
“That doesn't make me feel any better.”
She laughs “Honestly, you're fine and it's nice to see you and Jack getting on better.”
I sigh and turn over on to my back, the room spins a little. “Yeah we called a truce last night and we had a good talk on the plane, actually I had fun and I was stressing about leaving Elijah.” My stomach does a flip when I remember how much I'm missing him; I push it down. “He was really sweet, actually that’s where the alcohol came into play, you saw the result of that.”
“Come on, get a shower then come down to breakfast - you'll feel better. Here,” She hands me a bottle of water and two painkillers.
“You are my hero,” I say, taking a gulp and swallowing the tablets.
I do as she says and just unpack a few things, while she scrolls through her phone waiting for me. I step into the hot jets of the shower and try to wash away my hangover. It's hot already for so early, but I know we’re going to the track today, so I decide on some denim cut-offs and a long-sleeved white cotton gypsy-style top. I tie my blonde wavy hair up in a high ponytail and put on my converse. I want to be comfortable; I don't know how far I’ll have to walk. I put some tinted moisturiser on and a little eyeliner and gloss, that will have to do. It's as good as it's going to get today. I walk out of the bathroom “Ready.”
Sophie looks up. “Jesus, how can you look like that and feel hungover at the same time?” she shakes her head.
“Is what I'm wearing OK?”
“You always look gorgeous, you get that you're one of those girls I hate right? You have just rolled out of bed and look stunning.”
“Shut up - like you can talk.” She’s gorgeous.
We walk down together and spot the guys who are already sat down drinking coffee. Jack is just walking to their table with two cups in his hand. “Just in time.” He hands me one of the mugs. He seriously has to stop getting me coffee – what girl doesn't fall for a guy that gets her coffee all the time?
“Thanks.” I take it sheepishly.
“Morning Danish. Sobered up?”
I give a small smile and sit down in an empty seat and smile and say good morning to everyone. I turn to Jack “Yes, sobered up and suffering thank you.”
They all laugh, Denny says “You were so funny Robyn. We need to get you drunk every night, this trip is going to be fun!”
Jack is smiling and looking at me in a way that is making me want to squirm in my seat. I might have joked last night about him wanting to eat me, but right now he’s looking at me as though he wants to devour me in one go.
