He’d grabbed it yesterday after his meetings, along with several other pieces to surprise me with. My football gear consists of other teams and players, and JJ was adamant about changing that. It wasthoughtful of him to be thinking of me and wanting me to wear merch representing him. Plus, it has bling on it, along with the cute ball cap I’m wearing, and I’m a sucker for some football bling.

“Thanks, I had some makeup staples delivered to your house. I put the address under my name so they wouldn’t know you live there. Is that okay?”

“Of course, baby. I told you, whatever you need. I could’ve had someone shop and bring it to you, or you can also drive the car in the garage if you want to go anywhere.”

He has a freaking Lamborghini in his garage. I’m afraid that if I get behind the wheel in that thing, I’ll never want to get out, and he’ll have to call the jaws of life to cut me out. It’s glorious in its all-matte black everything, like the Batmobile. I may’ve stared for a long time when I was making myself acquainted with his house and accidentally stumbled upon the piece of art. I know what you’re thinking, and yes, I’m still staying at his house. It’s only been a few nights; it’s not like I’ve moved in or anything.

“That car is a thing of beauty and far too expensive for me to whip into Ulta with, for some makeup.”

He snickers, shaking his head. “It’s too small for me, my legs cramp if I drive it for long. You can take it to grab a sweet tea if you want, whatever makes you happy.” He adds, and I dip my head. The man is grade A sweet, and I want to lick him like a lollipop for it.

He squeezes my hand, saying, “I apologize in advance for my teammates.”

“Why are they planning on playing terribly?”

He laughs. “Hell no, they better not. I’m talking about the way they may act if they meet you.”

“If they meet me? But why would they act any differently?”

“Let’s just say you’re kind of a big deal around here,” another voice interrupts, and I meet the playful gaze of none other than DawsonStealRiggs.

My mouth drops open, and I feel all warm and funny. I’ve watched him play for years, seen his stats, and heard how hard he works. Is it weird that I sort of fangirl over JJ’s teammate?

“Mr. Steal your ball!” I gasp, making him break out in a booming laugh. He’s also the vain one.

JJ’s grip on my hand tightens as he huffs, “Yep. Kinsley, meet my buddy, Dawson. Dawson, meet the love of my life.Mine.Kinsley.” His words have me beaming. He’s not been an overbearing kind of man since we’ve gotten together or anything, but now, around his teammate, he’s acting possessive, and I’m enjoying it one hundred percent.

Dawson grins, “Got it, QB.” He pins his gaze back on me and holds his hand out, “I’d hug you, but I have a feeling this guy would pop his head off and we can’t have ol’ QB pissed before a game, if you know what I mean.”

I place my hand in his, happily shaking it. I wish I had something for him to sign, or is that bad timing right now to ask? “It’s nice to meet you. I hope you kick some serious ass today. Don’t be afraid to run sixty-six over,” I say helpfully, making both of them laugh. Sixty-six on the other team is an asshole, and it’s been a big topic on some of the sports shows today.

“We gotta go, babe,” JJ says, drawing me a step further away, and Dawson sends us a wink.

“See ya,babe,” he calls as he walks off, and JJ scowls at his retreating form.

“Not your favorite?”

“He’s my best friend, but it doesn’t mean I don’t want to punch him sometimes. Let’s get you to the family box.” He leads me away, as I thoroughly enjoy how protective he is of me.

He greets each person as we pass, knowing nearly everyone’s names, and it’s clear to see he is loved in this stadium. As we get closer to the private entrance, I notice we’ve picked up an entourage of security guards, and it makes me feel even more on display as fans start to notice us. They stare and call out to JJ, wishing him luck. Several point and I can’t help but wonder if it has anything to do with the numerous articles floating around about the two of us.

Security beeps us through the private entrance, and we step inside a small room with an elevator. The two of us enter the elevator, with security waiting behind in the small room to escort JJ back to the players' area. It’s crazy, and my nerves and excitement are all over the place. When he told me he played football for Dallas, I don’t think it quite hit me. Then he went on to say he was the quarterback, so I suspected his life would be a little crazy. This, however, is next level. The big man has a security detail!

He turns to me as we step off the elevator, pausing to say, “When the game is over, ride the elevator back down. Let security know you’re ready to go to the locker room to find me. One of them will safely escort you down there until I can get to you.”

“You really don’t need to make a fuss. I can just order an Uber to take me back to your place. I’ll be fine, really.”

“Kinsley, you would be waiting forever for a car to get through the traffic, and everyone trying to leave the stadium. Plus, I’ve heard way too many crazy stories about creeps. If people start to realize who you are, things could change, and I don’t want you facing any of that alone.”

I lean up on my tiptoes and press a soft kiss to his cheek. “I love you, JJ. I’m so proud to be here and get to watch you.I hope you know that, and I don’t take all of this lightly. Thank you for being so concerned over my safety and well-being.”

“Sweetheart, I’m the one honored to have you watching me. Not gonna lie, it feels pretty amazing knowing my woman is up here, cheering me on. I love you, too.”

“My son, you'd better hug your mom before you run off.”

He grins, meeting my stare, “And Mom’s here, so you get to meet her.”

That ass, he didn’t even tell me she was coming!
