“Pick six.” A touchdown scored after an interception.
“Running routes.” Creating space for the quarterback to throw.
“Getting sacked.” When the quarterback is taken down.
And then he really taught me a thing or two about football that I’ll never forget. I’m falling hard and fast for this man. Scratch that. I’vefallenhard and fast for this man. And I just hope my bubble doesn’t burst. I don’t think I could take it. Jameson Winters has been heaven-sent, and I don’t want to lose him.
Back to reality, I’m in my classroom at the university. We have only a few more days before Christmas break, and I’m looking forward to spending more time with Jameson. The students are trickling in, and I’m sitting at my desk, waving good morning to them.
I’m getting a lot of looks and whispers. I glance at myself to confirm that my clothes match. I pat down my hair, trying to flatten it. A couple of girls head to their seats, but giggle as they pass me.
“Okay, what’s going on? Do I still have breakfast on my face or what?”
They laugh, but one student, Marissa, says, “We didn’t know you knew Jameson Winters!”
My heart stops. Of course, they’d see the papers and press releases from the weekend. I don’t know why I thought I’d be able to dodge questions. Clearing my throat, I say, “Yes, he’s a friend of mine.”
“That’s some friend!” The girls giggle.
“Yes, he um, asked me to accompany him to Candy Cane Key for their Christmas Ball?—”
I’m interrupted by someone from the back of the room.
“Charity case!”
I freeze.
Marissa turns and yells, “More like an escort case!”
“What are you guys talking about?” I ask slowly, my brain quickly forming thoughts I don’t want to think about.
The kid from the back walks toward me with his phone out. “This article! Damn, Miss P, you clean up nicely! But they did you dirty.”
Taking the phone from him, I try to steady my hand and end up bobbling it, but thankfully, it doesn’t hit the floor. I lean back against the desk and begin skimming the article.
‘Winters Wins with an Escort’
‘Jameson was the star of the show this weekend at Candy Cane Key’s annual Christmas Ball. But not for reasons you would think.
The NFL’s “QB next door” arrived with a stunning woman on his arm. Penelope Presley, 27, was not just a date but was actually bought by Winters, 23, to act as his date.
Yes, you read that right, folks. He bought her.
Though they looked cozy together, I guess he got what he paid for. JDub was seen entering his hotel room with the woman, where they remained for the night.
The QB next-door image seems to have quickly disappeared, and it looks like he may be learning a thing or two from his former coach, Jackson Gage. If you recall, Gage was dubbed the “Romeo QB” because he loved to spread his love everywhere he went.
When asked if Winters feels Presley is using him for exposure, his answer was simple. “She’s a f***ing nerd and I’m safe.”
If that’s what nerds look like nowadays, enroll me in her next class.
Maybe the pressure to be good is just too much for Jameson. No idea how this will affect the team's run for playoffs, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on these two.’
My heart is beating out of my chest, and my hands shake. There’s no way I’m able to teach today.
“Uh, class, you can go for the day. I just remembered I have a faculty meeting regarding finals. Make sure you’re looking over the syllabus and have your papers in on time.”
Quickly, I grab my purse and phone and head for the door, holding back the tears. Guess I got my truth after all.
