They come at us fast then. I should be worried, but I'm not. It would take more than them to deal with two omegas protecting and avenging their pack anyway; but they have to deal with me and Jasper. We're not typical omegas. Jasper is what amounts to an assassin, and I have had more combat training that anyone has a right to.

And we're angry.

So, so angry.

We are going to destroy them.

Chapter twenty-nine

Trent

I watch in horrible slow motion as Jasper and Talia walk hand-in-hand toward a group of three snarling alphas.

They're too far away.

There's no way I can get to them.

I glance around at the others in my pack. Nobody is close enough to get to them. Corso catches my eye and I tilt my chin toward our omegas. I watch the same horror I feel take over his face.

The fight we're in is almost finished. We've won, but it won't matter if our omegas are taken or killed by three stragglers. They're moving slowly, and fucking holding hands like they're going for a leisurely afternoon stroll through the park instead of marching down a battlefield.

It's a command. It has to be. They're earbuds are gone or malfunctioning. One of those alphas gave a command that my omegas couldn't ignore. Bile raises up from my stomach.

Two of them go for Jasper. He's male, so they must consider him the biggest threat. I'm going to puke. The rogue in my grip tries to pull away, but I twist his head to the side, breaking his neck almost absentmindedly as I watch the scene unfold around my omegas.

Nathan roars from somewhere beside me and I know he's watching, too.

Most of the movement has stopped on this side of the compound. We've definitely won. The only rogues who will be left alive are the very few who we take back to the council for questioning.

My mind is screaming at me to run and put myself in front of whichever omega I can get to first and my feet start carrying me to them. I'm just too far away to save them. The two going for Jasper reach out and he lets them take him. I really am going to vomit.

Kaleb is running to them from his direction, but he's not close enough to do any good, either.

Then something wonderful happens. Jasper moves his body in such a way that simultaneously smashes the two alphas into each other and leaves him standing behind them. He pulls out a gun and shoots one of them in the back of the head. The other one spins around and makes a grab for him, but he leaps onto the alpha's body, using the motion and his body weight to take them to the ground.

I forget how unbelievably quick Jasper is until he does stuff like this. He pulls something from the pocket on his sleeve and wraps it around the alpha's neck several times.

It's a cord.

He's going to kill that alpha with a thin piece of cord.

After he wraps it around the alpha's neck, he stands up and yanks on the loose ends of the cord. The ends don't start out very long, but by the time Jasper drags the alpha's thrashing body a few steps they're significantly longer. The alpha’s struggling movements are becoming slower and sluggish, he's going to die soon, so I turn my attention to Talia.

She's moving as fast as Jasper did. The alpha she's facing can't keep up. When she does let him grab her, it's only to get her close enough to land a blow. She practically jumps into the alpha's arms and wraps her legs around his torso so she can headbutt him right in the face. Blood explodes all over her. The alpha snarls and tries to make a grab for her hair, but Talia punches him in his smashed nose and they fall to the ground with her straddling him.

I'm close enough to hear the words she's barking at him. “You desecrated his body. My alpha.Mine.You hurt him when he was dying, you piece of shit.” She's hitting him as she speaks. It's very reminiscent of when she killed the beta who was trying to take Jasper a few months ago. So much has happened since then.

“That's right,” the alpha spits, “we killed him.” Then he laughs when she growls.

“You can't kill Devon,” she hisses.

Jasper tosses her a knife and she catches it without turning her head.

I'm not even surprised. Of course Talia can catch a knife without really looking. And it's only the most natural thing in the world for Jasper to fling it at her not knowing if she sees it or not. Why not?

Talia grips the knife handle and plunges it into the alpha's stomach. His hands cover the wound, but that leaves his face and neck vulnerable and Talia takes advantage of it. By the time she's finished chipping away at the alpha's upper body she's covered in blood and chunks of flesh and the alpha is a little past dead. In fact, she has essentially dug a trench from neck to naval and it doesn't look like she's going to stop until she gets to the dirt under him.

Kaleb gets to her first. He gently runs his hand across her shoulders and plucks out one of her earbuds. She immediately stops carving up the dead alpha and looks up at Kaleb with a disappointed sneer. I guess she wanted to keep killing him.
