I blow out a breath that puffs my cheeks, “it was ridiculous. My mind went down a rabbit hole and I started thinking about babies. My stupid omega hormones had a party and Corso tried to make Reid pull over on the side of the fucking road to fuck me. I declined that lovely offer, but Alex still ended up putting his hand down my pants and getting me off. I had to change pants in the back seat, Jasper. And we had to roll down all the windows. Their big plan was totake care of mewhen we got here, but then I saw my room and I wanted to talk to you.”

The laugh that explodes out of him is almost comical. Then he abruptly sobers, “why were you thinking about babies?”

For fuck sake, is he going to be as bad as the rest of them?

“I don't know, Jasper. It just happened. I don't want any, not anytime soon. And when I am inclined to entertain the idea, I want your babies first. They can all wait in line. But that's eventually. The far end of eventually.” I'm sure I sound as petulant and sour as I feel about it, but Jasper has the strangest look on his face.

“You want to have my babies? Mine before theirs?”

It takes every ounce of effort I can muster to stop my eyes from rolling right out of my head and onto the floor. “Of course I'm having yours first. But not now. Why would you ever think anything else?” I ask, genuinely curious.

His expression has changed to a more dreamy state and his voice is soft when he answers, “most omegas want their alpha's offspring. I figured you'd want Corso or maybe Kaleb for your first...”

I cut him off, “our, Jasper. Our. Any kid I have will be ours collectively. Biology won't matter. Every kid that happens along will be ours, all of ours. I just want to carry yours first. And I don't want to do it anytime soon. When I’m ready for a baby with one of the alphas, they’ll just take out their implant before I go into heat. It’ll be fine.”

“None of them have the hip implant.”

“What do you mean, none of them have the implant, Jasper?” He can't be right. They must have the implant. All alphas are supposed to get the implant as soon as they hit puberty. Even the females. If I just let three alphas without implants fuck me through my heat, knowing how stupidly fertile the omegas in my family tend to be...

“They had them removed. After they took me as their omega, they knew they weren't going to have kids, and they kind of wanted to piss off their families a little bit because of the way they reacted to them taking a male omega. Shit. You were just in heat.” Jasper's eyes are huge and he's lost a little of the color that was blushing his cheeks before. “You could be...do you feel pregnant?”

I have gone from alarmed straight to horrified, and now a good portion of anger is filtering in, but I don't have anybody to be angry with. I can't be angry with a single one of us. I can certainly think we're all idiots, but I can't be mad.

“No,” I bite out, “hang on.” I stalk into the hallway and down the stairs. I don't care which one I find first, any of them will do. It's been three days since my heat lifted, any one of them will be able to smell a difference in my scent if I'm pregnant.

I find Alex first. He's in the kitchen, because that's where he always is.

 “Smell me,” I bark.

He gives me furrowed eyebrows, then looks at the phone in my hand.

“I need you to smell me right now. Please. Just do it.”

Alex raises his eyebrows and his mouth twitches to the side, but he runs his nose from my shoulder up my neck “You smell fine to me,” he shrugs.

 “No, do it again. Thoroughly.”

He's looking at me like I'm crazy, but he does it; sticking his nose everywhere but my crotch.

“You smell like you usually do, like spicy coffee,” he assures.

“So, I don't smell pregnant? Because you'd be able to smell a pregnancy at this point after my heat. Right?” His eyes grow comically wide and he looks down at my stomach.

Alex drops to his knees and plants his nose just above my pubic bone. I don't know if that will help him smell any better. I didn't think he would actually be able to smell a potential pregnancy through my actual stomach; that's not how it's supposed to work, anyway.

He looks up at me and shakes his head.

I let out the breath I was holding. “Trent and Nathan don't have implants. None of their pack do.”

 “Oh.” Yeah, oh.

“I'm going to call Obi and see if he can come over and get that taken care of. The first baby is Jasper's. Then Corso. Then you can all draw straws, but it will be planned.”

Alex's smile grows wider and wider as I go on.

I go back to my call with Jasper. “Can you get everyone to agree to the implant? I won't let them touch me if they don't. It's a hard stop.”

 “I'm sure they won't mind.”
