“How long have I been out?”
“All day and night. It’s afternoon.”
Good. I still have time to act on the deal Sawyer made me. I have one day left.
I finish up and brush past Miles. He follows me. “Do you need anything?”
I continue with the silent treatment, crawling back in bed.
Miles sighs, running a hand through his dark hair, looks around, then sits on the floor, facing me.
I frown. No, this won’t do. I swing my legs back out of bed and pad out of the room.
“Cali, where are you going?” Miles gets up.
I move to the hall and down toward Ryder’s room.
“Cali, you need to rest.”
I ignore him, walking into Ryder’s room and slamming the door.
Chapter 74
Ryder
My door opens as I’m folding laundry to put away. I glance over my shoulder and start saying something to Miles, but it’s Cali who walks in, all legs and messy hair. My dick twitches at the sight of her, and it makes me mad.
Cali slams the door, giving me a careless glance, then heads right for my bed.
I freeze. What is she doing?
“Oh,” Cali says, pausing. Her cat is curled up on my bed. The animal won’t leave me alone, and it freaks me out. Every time I get one of the boys to get him out of my room, it manages to sneak back in.
“What are you doing?” I ask her.
The tiny woman doesn’t answer and just climbs on the bed and puts her soft body under the covers.
“Excuse me?” I narrow my eyes at her. The animal gets up and cuddles in the crook of her knees.
“They won’t leave me alone, so I came in here.” Cali closes her eyes, her eyelashes dark against her pale skin.
“You know there’s a whole house.”
Cali looks sick. Sawyer has never spiked one of my drinks before, but he did Miles’, and he didn’t get out of bed for two days.
For a second, seeing Cali pale, curled up under blankets, makes me flash back to my mother before she died.
My chest gets tight, and I clench my jaw.
I shake the clothes I’m folding out more vigorously than needed. “Cali. Get out of my bed.”
“Must we talk?” She groans.
“No. Get out of my bed.” This is not how I pictured her in my bed. Not that I pictured her here. Ever.
She throws an arm over her head.
“Cali…”
