I glance at her. Instead of fire, there’s a flash of raw fear in her eyes. It shoots straight to my groin. I have a sudden image of shoving into her while she fights me with that fear in her eyes. I start toward her, then freeze.
Fuck. I swore not to hurt her.
I glare at my little problem-maker. She hasn’t taken her eyes off the needle. I ask, “Are you going to stay still for me?”
She swallows, trembling slightly.
That’s a no. “Miles!” I bark.
Cali jumps.
There’s a noise in the hallway. Out of my peripheral, I see him fill the doorway.
“Come here and hold her so I can give this to her.”
Miles stalks into the room.
“Please, no,” Cali says. The smell of sweat and fear has filled the room. It makes my mouth water. It’s a cruel punishment that Miles made me promise not to hurt her. For me and her. I know she’ll get off on it.
I give her a look. “It’s either now or when you’re sleeping.”
“Now,” she bites back quickly, then says softer, “now.”
Miles sits on the bed between us. “Come here, shadow.” He picks her up and puts her on his lap, caging her in with his arms.
Oh, so he’s calling her nicknames now?
Cali’s breathing accelerates again when he crosses his heavy arms over her.
“Miles…please.” She struggles. My dick jerks. I could come from just watching this.
“I won’t let anything bad happen to you,” Miles says. “I’ll be right here.” He glances at me. There’s conflict in his eyes. He hates this. My gut twinges again. I don’t like it when he’s miserable.
Fuck. He’s a fucking buzzkill. I draw up the vial into the syringe. It’s a larger-than-normal gauge needle, and I throw Miles a glance. He nods slightly.
Cali trembles but has stopped speaking. I wipe down her arm and plunge the needle in.
She jolts. Miles holds her still, shushing her, whispering in her ear as I administer the contents and wipe her off. My shorts are wet. My dick is ready to go. Ready to feed off the power she’s giving me. But the look on Miles’ face makes my heart squeeze. I clench my jaw.
Goddamn this man and his bleeding heart. It’s clear he’s miserable.
I enjoy playing with Miles. I want him to be miserable, and I want him to fight me…so why does this feel wrong?
I have to do something. Something to make him feel less guilty. As I stare at them, an idea comes to me. Oh shit. This might work for both of us.
I clear my throat. “New rules.”
Chapter 23
Cali
Sawyer crosses his arms after his declaration. He looks so menacing standing there, red and black tattoos tracing up his arms. It makes me hate him even more.
“Bunny, you are now on a point system.”
Miles stiffens beneath me.
“Points will be added every time you’re a good girl. Get enough points, and I’ll let you go.”
