“If she’s not Maggie Sullivan, then we kidnapped an innocent girl... Fuck.”

“There is only one thing we can do now to make this right.”

“Just give me a few minutes.”

 “Liam—”

“I said give me a few minutes.” His voice is an order now, not just a suggestion, and I know better than to disobey him when he’s like this.

I hold up my hands. “All right, boss. I’m going back in. Take all the time you need.”

As I walk back into the house, I wonder just what in the name of God is going through his head right now.

 Chapter Fifteen

 LIAM

I take a few deep breaths, letting them out slowly to calm myself. I’m still furious, and I’m not even sure why.

I guess I’m mad at the situation, mad at my father for losing his mind, mad at myself that I might have fucked all of this up.

What if she’s really not Maggie?

I told Dare we can’t let her go, and I mean it. Even if she’s really Isla Quinn, whoever that is, she’s in too deep. She knows too much.

And what I really hate myself for is that I want to keep her to myself. It’s taken me some time to realize why I’ve been so angry, but it’s because Dare got to her first.

I’m jealous, and it’s driving me crazy.

But what if there is another option? What if…

 No, that’s crazy, right?

But what if she says yes? And what if she says no?

I have to stop pulling my hair, or I’ll go bald in no time.

There’s only one way to solve this, and it’ll either scare her to death, or she’ll decide to do it.

I open the front door, and Isla jumps, standing with her back to me.

 She slowly turns around.

Her eyes slice through mine, shredding me whole.

 “Maybe you’re not Maggie Sullivan.”

“Does that mean you’re going to let me go?” There isn’t much hope in her voice, but it’s there.

Time to crush what’s left of it.

 “No.”

She trembles slightly, and Dare puts a hand on her arm.

I grit my teeth when she doesn’t pull away.

“Then what are you going to do with me?”
