Chapter Ten

Becca

I've sent Storm eight messages today, and he hasn't replied. It hurts because I bared my soul to him last night and he made me feel like it would all be okay. Now he just disappears and leaves me blowing in the wind.

I get out of my work to find another rose on my car. Great, he can send a message, but he can make a trip out here. I decide to go and see what the hell is going on. He doesn't get to do this to me. I find the address he sent me and follow the directions.

The guy at the gate is still stationed there. He recognizes me and opens the gate for me; I guess he assumes I'm here for Carter. I pause as I'm about to open the door, remembering the last time I was here without Storm. There are way more bikes here today too. After a minute I say screw it. I need to know what the hell he's doing.

Walking in, the room is completely empty except for a group of girls sitting at a table and talking. They all have jackets with patches. I meet eyes with Nikki, and she waves me over.

“Hey, were you coming for him today?”

"No, sorry. I was actually looking for Storm." My eyes scan the room, but it's empty.

“Oh Lord, the boys are in church right now. Have been for a while. Why don’t you sit down with us and hang out while they finish.” She leads me over to the table.

“You guys have a church here?” What kind of place is this?

Nikki laughs, “no not that kind of church. I guess you guys haven’t had the MC talk yet?” I shake my head. “Figures. Ladies this is Becca, she’s one of Carter’s teachers. She’s also here looking for Storm. This is Lucy, Tracey, Izzy, Jaz, Megan, and Chrissy.”

“Hi,” I awkwardly wave as they offer me a seat.

“So you guys all have jackets, does that mean you’re club members too?” They all start to laugh.

"No, man why do these guys not just have the MC talk when they first get involved with girls?" Izzy says. "So we are called ‘old ladies,' and yes Tracy we know you can't stand the name let's not have that discussion again. It means that we've been claimed by a brother in fort of the whole club. He's made us his and pledged to protect us; the club also does at that point too. Once you're an old lady, you get a patch."

I nod, even though I really don’t get it.

Voices start to boom and guys begin to filter into the room.

"Looks like church is over," Lucy says. "There's Storm hun." She points to the bar.

He looks like he’s been through hell, maybe he had a good reason for not answering me today. His eyes catch mine and widen in shock. I stand up as he makes his way toward me. Without a word he takes my hand and pulls me down the hallway to his room.

“What are you doing here Becca?”

My smile drops that was not the welcome I thought I was going to get when he saw me. "I uh…I hadn't heard from you all day, and after last night I didn't know where we stood."

"Where we stand is that I'm busy and I would have gotten back to you when I wasn't, but right now there is too much shit going on for you to be here." His tone is cold and nothing like the man who comforted me last night.

"Okay, I guess I'll leave." I pray that he'll stop me, but he doesn't. I walk down the hallway embarrassed when I run into someone. Looking up it's the girl from the restaurant I think he said her name was Lauren. She's dressed in barely nothing.

“Oh it’s you, excuse me Storm’s waiting on me.” She shoulders me as she passes.

I watch her walk down the hallway and open the door to his room. Moving at almost a run, I get to my car. I need to get out of here.

I was so stupid to think I could tell someone about my fucked up past and they'd actually stick around. I should have listened to Pat and just kept to myself. It's a hell of a lot better than getting hurt.

I head home wanting nothing more than to rewind the past two days.
