“Look at the spoiled princess…”

My eyes flew open upon hearing another voice in the home. It wasn’t Gabe’s but I wasn’t sure who it was. I tried to sit up and realized my wrists were tied to the bed. I was stuck and helpless. The kidnapping plot sounded sexier in my head. It’s far from sexy in real life.

Several men surrounded my bed and I was too scared to make a move. I couldn’t scream for help because no one would hear me. With the last bout of violence at this very home, I don’t think they would come to my assistance.

“Was she followed?” A man asked.

“Nope.” One answered.

“Any trackers on her phone, person, or purse?” The same man asked.

“None.” Another answered.

One man came up to my face and sneered at me. “Daddy’s little princess, huh? We hope Daddy’s little princess has a lot of money because if you want to get out of this alive, you’ll be paying.”

I didn’t say a word. There was nothing to say.

The men gathered me up and blindfolded me. They tied my arms behind my back and my legs together before they stuffed me into a van. At least they were considerate of my condition and had the air conditioner on.

I didn’t know how long we drove but it was quite a distance. I wasn’t even sure if we were still in Georgia. I fell asleep after some hours and was only awaken when they arrived at whatever place it was. I had no idea where we were.

“Up you go,” a gruff voice picked me up and carried me firefighter-style. It was unbelievably cold and I felt the brisk chill all over my body. It was beyond frigid and I hope we didn’t have too far to go before we were inside.

After several minutes, I heard what sounded like a warehouse door. I was rushed inside and carried upstairs before someone set me down, but not for long. My arms were pulled over my head and I was attached to a chain.

Then I was left alone.

Hours upon hours passed by. I wondered where Cameron was. I hoped he was able to figure out where I was and if the Administration were on their way. My mind went the other way – what if it’ll be too late before they arrived?

The captors said they wouldn’t kill me but I wasn’t too keen on that. If the ultimate goals was to own Fresh Espresso and the land it was on, there was no point of keeping me alive.

I’d fallen asleep again before I was woken up by someone I knew I was going to see but I hoped to hell I wouldn’t. He moved the bandana off my face and just smiled at me like he was waiting for me to take the bait and was impatient it took so long.

“Good morning, princess.” He greeted.

It was a different Gabe. The charming, smiling Gabe who always had a compliment for a beautiful woman was gone. The evil, conniving Gabe took his place. Maybe that was the real Gabe all along and I just never paid attention.

“Gabe…” I can’t believe what I’m seeing. My heart is racing and I’m so unbelievably angry. Alicia was right about him all along and planned to tell me before she was killed. “My father trusted you! You were his second-in-command! He told you everything!”

“And he still didn’t listen,” Gabe snickered as he chewed on a toothpick. “I wanted your father to sell the place. I kept telling him it would be a great deal. He was just too damn stubborn.”

“What does that have to do with anything?” Hot tears are streaming down my face. “He didn’t have to be murdered!”

Gabe walks up to me and chews on his toothpick. “Except he did, shorty. The only way I was able to get your father out of the picture is to take him out on a permanent basis. I knew he was going to leave the shops to you. I also knew you knew nothing about running the business.

“It was all set up. We knew what time your father headed home at night. I always knew he took the same route and never made any unnecessary pit stops. I knew this by what he told me. I confirmed it by putting a tail on him for a couple of months. He always did his business in the morning and he just liked going straight home after work.

“I set up the pick – Clayton was going to do robbery and go on a chase. I told him what streets to go down and what your dad’s car looked like. Once he saw the street your father was on, he sped up and hit him dead-on.” Gabe sighs and shakes his head. “Your father never stood a chance.”

I can’t breathe. It’s become claustrophobic. Gabe set up my father to be murdered. My father considered Gabe to be the son he never had. He always spoke so highly of him and entrusted Gabe to fully run the shops while he was gone.

“We knew what your father’s land was worth. So did he. Lamont wasn’t a stupid man in that respect. But he should’ve taken the money.” Gabe pulled out a gun and points at my head. I scream in fear. I’m about to die.

“If you kill me, everyone will know what happened.” I plead for him. “The property gets reverted to family. They won’t sell it.”

“They will and you’re the blood sacrifice to ensure it’ll happen,” Gabe clocks the gun. “Say hi to your daddy for me, shorty.”
