“I towed his Mercedes back to his home. He gave me a huge tip and a business card, telling me he had something better in mind for me and to swing by the next day. The next day, I started driving for him. Made more money in the first two weeks than I did six months working. Haven’t looked back since.”

I’m stunned by Cameron’s generosity, though I shouldn’t be. He’s always taken very good care of everyone around him and I can see why they’re so loyal. “Wow.”

“Yeah, but it’s not just the money, you know?” Daryn corrects. “He really cares about us. If someone is sick, Finesse will make sure they get the best care and rest. If someone has a death in the family, Finesse pays for the funeral expenses and gives the family a little extra money. If someone’s kid is going to college, Finesse pays for it. He’s always been very generous with his wallet. If he has a dollar, so does everyone else.”

It explains why Cameron took care of me the way he did. “Have you always known what he does?”

Daryn shrugs. “It didn’t take too long to figure out what was going on. It wasn’t – and still isn’t – any of my business. Finesse tells me where to go and I do just that, no questions asked. If he wants me to pick someone or something up, I do that. There have never been any problems or questions and I always keep a piece on me in case there are.” He says with a chuckle.

I smile at the exchange. “You’re a real one, D.”

“Have to be. Like what Lil’ Kim said, ‘no time for fake ones.’” He winks at me through the mirror.

I cock my head to the side. “I didn’t think you were the type to listen to Lil’ Kim, D.”

“Oh yeah.” The older White man puffs his shoulders out. “Jackie-O, Nicki Minaj, Big L. Yeah, that’s my stuff. I can’t understand these damn mumble-jumble rappers. They only have good beats and that’s it. You take away their beats and it’s just crap all around. No thank you. Give me Biggie Smalls and I’m straight.”

When I arrived to the restaurant, I was surprised to see it was still crowded. Pandemic or not, people will want to go out and eat. I wasn’t even concerned about them; I was anxiously awaiting to see my man.

The valet opened the passenger door and I was quickly ushered inside before I got a chance to tell Daryn bye. I was immediately escorted to a private room where Cameron stood, facing the window.

I paused for a moment, briefly taking in his looks. Dressed like an executive, I can see why Cameron named his gang The Administration. He dressed the part of a powerful magnate, and not some rookie drug dealer.

He wore a dark suit with a white shirt open collar. He stared out into the city with a contemplative look, but not disappointment. His tall and muscular stature commanded attention, whether someone wanted to give it to him.

When he sensed my appearance, Cameron pivoted towards my direction and smiled at me. Damn, my man is breathtaking. His light eyes smiled along with his lips. His dark hair was perfectly coiffed and he looked relaxed.

“My angel…” He murmured before he made long strides towards me. He slanted his lips over mine and gave me a sensual kiss that left me desiring more. My skin tingled on wanting to feel Cameron inside me again and I wondered how I would make it through dinner.

“I missed you today.” I smiled at him.

“I missed you, too.” He admitted.

“Did you miss me so much you followed me today?” I joked.

Cameron chuckled and shook a finger at me. “My baby really does love her 80’s music.”

“I do.” I interlocked my arm with Cameron’s and walked to the lone table in the room. Cameron pulled out my chair before he sat down. A waiter appeared shortly afterward with water, bread, and wine.

After the server took our order, he left us alone. “How was work today?” Cameron asks.

“Oh, you know…” I contemplate if I wanted to tell him about Ethan’s visit but I also knew there was no point in hiding it. If Cameron really wanted to know what was going on at Fresh Espresso, all he had to do was playback the footage. “Atlanta P.D. visited me.”

Cameron buttered his roll and took a bite of it. I’ve gotten used to his expressionless face. I can never tell if he’s holding a royal flush or a pair of Jacks. He could be so hard to read, no matter how long someone has known him.

Cameron swallowed and took a swig of wine. “Why?”

“Well, a few things.” It was my turn to eat and drink. I swallowed and blotted my lips. “The first thing was what happened last night. Some of the cops recognized The Administration at my house. Ethan was wondering the connection.”

“Ethan?” Cameron’s eyebrow rose.

“Ethan Underwood and I’ve known him since I was a teenager so stop.” I sense Cameron’s jealousy before he had a chance to announce it. “Anyway, Ethan was wondering if I was connected to you. I told him we were just friends.”

“Why?” Cameron’s voice is flat and I’m not sure what to make of it.

“Because he asked,” I slowly explained.
