”As if I was ever anything else.”
Adam scooped him into his arms.
”Fuck. I needed that,” Jonas said, panting.
”Me too. It was almost worth the wait.”
Jonas stroked Adam’s chest.
”I’m not going that long again,” he said. ”Next time she comes we’ll stay here. We can put her on the other side of the house.”
Adam chuckled. ”You’re both more than welcome. We’ll go to Stockholm soon. We did promise.”
”I’m enjoying this new plural world we find ourselves in.”
They shared a moment. Jonas wanted to stare into Adam’s eyes forever.
”I’ve realised something,” Adam said.
”What’s that?”
Adam faced him.
”You’ve told me about your father and stepmother but you’ve never mentioned your mum.”
Jonas’ heart dropped. ”I don’t talk about her.”
”But—”
”I said I don’t talk about her.”
Adam sat up. ”Message received.”
Jonas hated ruining their perfect moment. However that topic of conversation was firmly off limits. Adam needed to learn that sooner rather than later.
”You haven’t told me about your family anyway.”
”Alan and Emma Williams live in Spain. They had a problem when me and Jen split up and we haven’t spoken much lately. They’ll come round. Just normal family life.”
Jonas narrowed his eyes. ”Normal is what you know.”
Adam held his hands up. ”Let’s not squabble on our first night together again. You’ve made it clear that your mum is off limits. I can respect that.”
He meant it too. It was written all over his face.
Jonas leant forward and kissed him. A slow kiss. Gently exploring each other with their tongues.
”This is great,” he said, grinning.
”You know I quite liked being a team with Anna.”
”Me too. We work well together, partner.”
Adam wrapped his arms around Jonas. Jonas snuggled against Adam’s chest. The hair tickling his face.
Adam had unwittingly sowed a seed in his mind. When was the right time to tell him about his mother? Jonas shut his eyes.
He needed to put that right out of his mind. He refused to burden Adam with something that heavy yet. A conversation for another day.
