“Clash, do you love her?” he asked again.

 “Yes!” I shouted, stunning everyone.

“I knew you had to because you’re using club resources to find her and protecting her child like he’s your own kid.”

“He’s gonna be,” I mumbled under my breath, the shock and realization hitting me like a bolt of lightning.Shit, I didn’t just love Gina. I loved them both.

Snyder chuckled. “I believe you. I can see it in your eyes, Brother. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.” He shook his head in disbelief.

“Yeah, well, fuck off with your questions, I’m running out of time. If you want to help me, help me. If not, stay the fuck out of my way.”

Snyder took a step back, but proceeded to block my path to the door. “Look, Clash, I told you guys before. When you meet the one, she makes you fall to your fucking knees. I haven’t been able to get up since…” He stopped himself, knowing he didn’t want to go back into that rabbit hole and piss us all off again. “Well, you know what. And if what I’ve been through is any indication what you’re going through right now, then I’m going to be right by your side, fighting next to you.”

“Thank you,” I said, clenching my teeth. I hated having to rely on him. Half the time I hated his fucking ass, but I knew I needed him right now. I needed my whole damn club.

“Danger, text Clash those coordinates. Ranger, grab a few of the brothers to come with us. Clash is going to need some backup if the Crows are involved in all this. Clash, are you okay with me leaving the kid with Shasta until we get back?”

I hated the idea of it, but I sure as hell wasn’t going to leave him with any of the other members. “I guess, if I have to.”

“Good, I’ll make sure she knows what’s going on. Let’s get the fuck out of here and save Clash’s girl.”

My girl. I really liked the sound of that.

Marching out of the room, I found Alex talking to Sandman at one of the tables.

“I like your stutter, Mr. Sandman. It reminds me of that pig on that cartoon show.”

 “L—Looney Tunes,” Sandman stuttered.

“Yeah, I can’t remember his name, but he was funny.”

Sandman gave him a warm smile, and I could see it in his eyes, he was wondering what his own child would be like at Alex’s age?

“Hey, Alex, can you come over here a second?”

Alex quickly jumped up from his chair and rushed over to me. “Hi, Mr. Clash!” he said excitedly.

“I’m gonna go find your mommy, okay? I need you to stay here with…” My eyes met hers from across the room, and I felt all that anger resurfacing again, trying to block out the pain and rejection she made me feel after she chose to leave the club and all of us behind, only coming back when Snyder went out looking for her. I knew in my heart, she wouldn’t have done the same for me, but it didn’t make the wound any less painful. “Alex, this is Miss Shasta. She’s going to take care of you while I’m gone.”

Shasta dropped to a knee, giving Alex a warm smile. “Hi, Alex. It’s very nice to meet you.”

Alex blushed, hiding behind my pant leg. “She’s really pretty,” he whispered, making everyone laugh.

“Well, thank you,” she said, her whole face lighting up. “You’re a little cutie, too.”

Alex grinned. “Mommy says one day I’ll break all the girls’ hearts.”

Shasta laughed. “I can totally see you doing that. Hey, do you like playing video games?”

He shrugged. “Never played one before. Daddy said they rot your brain.”

“Oh, well I got this fun video game, I’d love to show you. It has these cute little animals, and you can fish and decorate houses.”

 “That sounds like fun!”

She held out her hand, and he greedily took it, but he was only a few steps away before he stopped.

“I was going to wait until I could ask my mommy if it was okay, but if you find her, will you ask her for me?”
