Hawthorne:

Did you see the other ghosts when you finished the banishment at the house?

Bubbles disappear and reappear several times, but finally she responds.

Hale:

No

Fuck, what if I didn’t get rid of them

Mendez is going to kill me

Hawthorne:

He doesn’t have to know

How about this…you do what you do, look into this more for me

And I’ll swing by the house

Hale:

Really?

Hawthorne:

Yeah, I’m heading out to Monterey to meet with Ozzie anyway

Hale:

You’re not going to tell him, are you?

Hawthorne:

Hell no. The last thing we need is for him to update that bullshit code of conduct

Hale:

Thing’s getting ridiculous

God forbid a girl have a little fun

Hawthorne:

Your secret is safe with me. I’ll tie up any loose ends

Hale:

Thanks

Hawthorne:

Let me know what you find

Despite the shit sleep, or better lack thereof, energy buzzes through me like I’ve had several shots of espresso. That feeling of being onto something, of being close to answers, is something I’ve come to crave. It’s part of the reason I formed Veiled Coast. While yes, of course I love helping people—both dead and alive—I also chase this feeling every chance I can.

Even though I was left without closure and my love life out of my control, this was something I could fix, something to be solved. It was also a damn good distraction. I’m lucky enough to say that it turned into so much more. Our little group of misfits is like a family.
