“And if you find in a few days that you’re still angry, then maybe it wasn’t love,” Gigi added.

“Would you ever forgive Bob if he cheated on you?”Hallie asked, tilting her head to the side.

“I don’t know, it would depend on the circumstances.”

“What if it was with someone you knew?”

“That’s a really hard question,” Gigi said pensively.“All I know is I would try to get on with my life and not worry too much about it.”

It was easy for her to say, Hallie thought, but Gigi was right. There was no need for this incident to define her life.

She was not going to be someone who wallowed and consumed gallons of ice cream, ruining her figure just to get over him. After all, it was just a kiss.

There was nothing for it but to come back to work the next day.Hopefully Luke meant what he said about her keeping the job no matter what happened.

Chapter 70: Never Trust Him Again!

Hallie carefully stowedher burning resentment and anger to one side, deciding that she needed a job now more than ever.

It gave her something to do so she didn’t have to think about the disaster that was her love life.Even if that job involved helping Luke promote his company, she didn’t have to see Luke very often. She just hoped he would stay true to his word.

Considering his previous actions, it was not very likely...

Still, when Hallie showed up at the office, there was no sign of him.He was probably playing with his toys and throwing darts. She quickly stepped into her office and shut the door, anxious to begin the day’s work.

She started by checking her emails, and was not very surprised to find one from her old friend Perry. He was asking her yet again to be in his music video.Perry seemed convinced that she could do some dancing or backup vocals.

“No thanks,” she mumbled, “My singing is worse than...worse than Luke’s!Or at least as bad.”

She focused on more work-related emails, and after only a few minutes of trying to get back into the flow, she was interrupted by a knock on the door.

If this was Luke, he was about to get his ass kicked, she thought.

But the person who entered was a pleasantly smiling lady in her fifties.

“Hi, I’m Ursula Simmons,” she said, “Luke’s new assistant.”
