Devin laughed, pulling me tighter toward him. “They won’t care about that. They can set up security systems in their sleep. You know Bear has been badgering me to get you to move in before the baby comes so they can keep an eye on both of you?”
I gaped at Devin. “No, he is not!”
“He totally is.” He chuckled.
“You seem to have an answer for everything,” I pointed out as I narrowed my eyes at him.
“Yep, I’m smart like that.”
For a moment I watched this alpha I was quickly becoming very attached to. Most nights I went to sleep alone in my nest, I was consumed by a painful loneliness, and moving in with them would solve that. They were already taking care of me, and I didn’t hate it… in fact, I was starting to enjoy it.
“You really wouldn’t mind redoing the guest room into a proper nest?” I asked.
Devin’s face lit up. “Of course not! What would you change?”
“It needs darker curtains, for one. The walls are so stark white, it’s depressing. The mattress? My God it’s lumpy, and I hate it. Crap, I’m rambling now.”
He chuckled, kissing the top of my head. “This is good, I want you to change everything!” He reached down and pulled out his phone. He opened the pack group chat and sent a voice note.
“You all better keep your weekend free, because I think our girl just agreed to move in!”
I chuckled, shaking my head at his excitement.
The pack chat was filled with a flurry of comments, all the others sending various messages of excitement.
They were all ecstatic.
As was I.
Chapter 35
Mable
“You can’t complain!” I laughed as I placed the box on the counter.
My pack trailed behind me, Jasper bounding ahead. Devin was glaring at me, but I wasn’t worried in the slightest, even if it was him I was directing my words at.
My surly, sweet, overprotective alpha.
“It’sa lotof sugar. I thought you were supposed to be careful with that. We could eat them…” He trailed off, looking torn.
My hands rested on my hips as I glared right back at him, tilting my head. “I know you’re not suggesting Idon’teat my own gender reveal cupcakes.”
“Dev, pick your battles.” Jasper laughed as he grabbed a few bottles of water and placed them on the kitchen island next to the cupcakes, which was, admittedly, a good idea.
“She grew the baby, don’t complain about some cupcakes. Otherwise, she will go feral on your ass,” Saint reasoned.
“Hear! Hear!” Percy laughed, rubbing my lower back lightly.
Devin threw his hands up in the air. “Well, shit, it looks like I’m outnumbered!”
I cackled with laughter, opening the box. “Yes, you are, and this pack is a democracy.”
“Dictatorship is looking awfully appealing right now,” he muttered, though a smile played on his lips.
I pursed my lips, narrowing my eyes at him. “Your dictatorship would fail as soon as you tried to keep me away from sour gummy candy. We’d mutiny.”
His brows rose. “That’s what will incite the riots, will it? In that case, I think it’s called a coup.”
