I spun around, relieved to find her safe and unharmed. “I need you to pack a bag. Quick.”
She knew me well enough to understand when I wasn’t joking around and obeyed me without question. “Tell me what I need to know.”
This woman. She saw me at my worst and helped me to become the best version of myself. Cameron accepted the dark parts of me and didn’t hesitate to love both the man and the Reaper. She was fucking everything to me.
And now she was having my son.
The Reaper’s presence filled my mind as he snarled. No one harms our woman or child.
He didn’t have to tell me that. I knew.
When I opened my mouth to explain, Rael knocked on the door and opened it, not waiting for me to answer. It didn’t bother me. We often just walked into each other’s houses unless it was too early in the morning or late at night. We tried to give one another privacy. But being twins and losing out on being a part of one another’s lives for so long, we were almost inseparable now.
Seeing the earnest expression on his face, I already knew why he had left Nylah to come over. “Cam is packing a bag right now.”
My brother nodded. “Good.” He began to pace the floor, his shoulders tensing along with his stiff stride.
Rael was pissed. I didn’t need the Reaper to know that. My twin’s emotions were as transparent as my own.
“We’ll take care of this,” I assured him as Cam reentered the room. “I need to tell her what’s happening.”
Rael headed toward the door. “I’ll be outside.”
Once he stepped onto the porch and closed the door, I turned to my wife. “Earlier today, a man wearing skull-themed face paint showed up next door and tried to enter the house while Nylah was home alone with the boys.”
Cameron’s eyes widened. “Oh, shit. Is she okay? Are the twins alright?”
“They’re all fine, but Nylah is spooked. She’s worried he’ll come back.”
Cam rushed into my arms as I opened them. “We’re staying with them,” she concluded.
“For now, yes. Just until we find this fucker.”
She picked up on the part I didn’t say aloud. “Then you’ll make sure he can’t come back or anyone else who would have a reason to harm our family.”
“Yes.”Our family.Me, Cam, and our baby, but it also included Rael, Nylah, and their three children. “I won’t risk your safety or the rest of our family.”
“What do you need from me?”
The way she selflessly asked, dropping everything to be my anchor, tugged on my heartstrings. This woman was so fucking perfect.
My Reaper rumbled my chest in agreement.
“Stay with Nylah and keep growing our baby boy. That’s it.”
“What if I need to be in our bed, holding onto you?”
“Babe, I can, and Iwillfuck you wherever we find a place to sleep.”
“As long as there’s no kids around,” she added.
I snorted. “Right.” Playfulness aside, I had to ask the question on my mind. “You gonna be okay? Not worried or stressed? Because I don’t want that shit bothering our son.”
“I’m fine and so is he. Don’t worry, Noah.”
She kissed my chin, and I sighed. “It’s not safe to linger outdoors. Never go out alone if I’m not there.”
“I know the routine. Tell your Reaper to chill,” she laughed.
